As of 6:30 am, we finally have 1" on the ground, 2.5 hours after it started, and temps have dropped to 31F. Snow falling moderately to almost heavily right now (visib slightly more than 1/4 mile) - gorgeous flakes. Was just outside for a walk and it's great snowball snow, at this time. Models show us snowing at a good clip until at least 1-2 pm, so hopefully we'll get to 6" (4" seems pretty certain to get to the 4-8" forecast range).
As of 7:30 am we're up to 1.75" (about 3/4" in the last hour - would've thought it was 1" per hour rates, but the ruler never lies, lol) and it's still 31F. It's just ripping out there - borderline heavy - this is going to be an awesome storm to watch from my recliner. But I also urge folks to get out and about in it - words don't do justice to how gorgeous it is out there right now. Can't wait for enough snow to make a good snow angel, lol...
2.75" at 9 am and it's dropped to 30F - moderate to occasionally heavy snow...6" is a lock here and hopefully more...
3.25" as of 10 am and it's now 28F. Much smaller, drier flakes - been mostly moderate snow the last hour - just missed that death band to our south. Damn. Still a great storm so far. At least 6" looks pretty likely...
4" on the ground as of 11:15 am and it's now 27F and snowing moderately. At this point, I'm expecting 7-8", based on radar trends - looks like at least another 3-5 hours of ~0.75"/hr snowfall on the way. NW extent of the snowfall has only moved SE about 30-40 miles over the past 3-4 hours, from the Scranton area to the Mt. Pocono area, when it was expected to have sunk SE much further by now. That's why they raised the warnings for the Lehigh Valley and Warren/Morris, as those places are now likely to get 6" - could even get that in Sussex, too. And there's plenty of subtropical moisture streaming up towards us - if it doesn't get shunted SE faster, we could actually get 10" or more in most of the area.

It's still within your original prediction of 4-8 inches. Good call!

Again you either don't understand or are just being argumentative again.
BTW, if you want me to apologize, I will. Just not sure for what. I can only laugh.
Forecasting here?? Either you are confusing me with others that bash #'s or you simply can't read. Not once on this thread have I mentioned any forecast of those on here. My post have always about the hype of the news stations.

My first post on here

Let the hype begin. Local news is already making this a story.

The real story is Wed. 58 degrees. Now that is something to hype!!

My second post on this thread.

No measurable snow in Lower Bucks/Philly. Mostly sleet now raining.

Your post in response
So Brunswick schools on a 90 minute delay tomorrow.
Waiting for White Bus's latest post on how the weather prognosticators missed again with this snow. The guy must really live in Florida. Tired of hearing his comments on how every storm prediction has underperformed this season.

And you are calling me the argumentative one?? Please stop. You started this back and forth and with false info!

Please point out where I blasted someone's forecast on here. I've been killing the media, Philly TV in particular not #'s or anyone else's forecast on here.
Wow, dude, you have no idea how much of an AHOLE you can come off as.
It's like you fight with EVERYONE.

Maybe its microphysics and failure of the dendritic growth zone of the thread. That's what the MILFS at the Hillsboro deli are sayin.
Nah. It's the mesoscale cumulogenesis

Just went out and shoveled the driveway. Good idea since the snow's pretty heavy. I'd guess 3-4 inches but as usual the wind makes it difficult to guess.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor ? Germans ? "Forget it, he's on a roll ".

In southern Bergen County, its coming down very heavily right now. I'd be pretty surprised if we weren't looking at 6" when its all wrapped up.

Somerset has about 5 inches with some moderate snow coming down, I expect about 8 total

Radar showing heavy snow band diagonally from about northern Mercer up to Bergen County, from about I-95 northwestward to slightly north of Rte 80. We're getting heavy snow in Bridgewater.

Have to imagine the Hillsborough Deli MILFs are highly anticipating receiving 8 inches from Winter Storm "Thor" [my first Hillsborough Deli MILF joke!]

not sure why work was fully operational today...
early dismissal at 1p

it's worse leaving now than it was getting here.

should I wait this one out? going from central to bergen county...

Just got in from shoveling/snowblowing round 1, measured anywhere from 5-5 1/2 in Monroe by Spotswood/Helmetta. Still snowing pretty good. Runnin out of places to put this shit as have the fence on on side and MH on the other. No plows yet

stopped snowing in Madison, NJ. Are we expecting another round? looks like a good 6 inches or so here.

Still snowing in Union County but not as intense as it was an hour or so ago.

Looks like another fairly heavy band is coming through relatively soon. In Elmwood Park, its stopped for the time being as well.

It's still coming down at a pretty decent clip in Lambertville. I'd say 6-7 inches so far.

Just about stopped here in Linden, unless its just a pause.

Snow has stopped in Somerville after 5 inches while radar shows its snowing...dry air eating things up.....hopefully this it but not sure as we still vould get another period...keep our fingers crossed

Snow had stopped here in upper bucks around 1:30 but has started up again. Almost raining tiny flakes. Temp has dropped to 19.

Same here. I thought it was over and now it has kicked in again, small flakes but coming down hard. 25 degrees out. I have 6" so far.

Went outside to shovel at 1:15 pm and we were up to 6" and down to 24F. Took an hour to shovel and for most of that hour it was pouring heavy snow with visibility a little less than 1/4 mile (not as heavy as the 2.5" per hour 25:1 snow we got a few weeks ago) and my measurement at 2:15 pm was 7". Wow!

It's now down to 23F/21F with 92% RH, but with 20 DBZ radar echoes overhead, it's it stopped snowing. Turns out I hit the "drywall" where precip was showing by the Ft. Dix radar, but wasn't actually reaching the ground (virga) due to infiltration of cold air from the NW drying the surface out and leading to sublimation of the falling snow.

Anyway, the linked radar from EWR clearly showed the 20-30 mile wide "dry line" approaching from NW to SE, engulfing me in dryness from about 2:05 to 2:45 pm, while the Ft. Dix radar showed 20-25 DBZ virga (probably because the beam is "lower" and more local for the airport and "saw" the lack of precip better). FWIW, the 0.20 reflectivity (48 mile range) worked best for me, probably since I'm only 15 miles away. Bookmark worthy. Time to go measure again (been working)...
