OT: Saquon Barkley breaks TTFP clean record.

Penn State is stacked with talent(and too many Jersey kids)...only hope is that Franklin continues his horrible record of game prep and coaching.

The kid is legit. And I think he was the lower "rated" RB in their recruiting class, Andre Robinson, another PA RB was regarded higher, now throw in the #1 RB in the nation in this recruiting class, Miles Sanders. They may challenge Hicks/Martin as the best 1/2 combo in the B1G. But Barkley has tremendous strength mixed with speed and agility (how many defenders did he leap over this year). He will be fun to watch, regardless of who you are rooting for.

Barkley is very talented. And I wish we had been able to keep him.
But he still needs blockers....Pedd State's O-line is not that impressive.
And now they won't have the threat of Hackyberg's big arm.
He BETTER be able to dodge tacklers.

Of course he broke the clean record!

Do you know how much strength it took to move the stone from in front of the tomb all those years ago. He's only gotten stronger since then. "Say-say" died for your sins you heathen.

This f**kin feeb told us so, over and over and over again last year during our game and every PSU game he called:

Unfortunately they will be better without Hack. They guy was over rated and he missed many open receivers. he was not a good QB.

I understand the addition by subtraction thing but any time your going with basically an untested QB you never know. He looked ok in the bowl game but that's a very small sample. There's no denying Barkley is a beast who'll only get better. PSU may be a bit better on O but they lost 3 top players on the DL. I don't believe there are more than a couple of school with guys waiting in the wings that can replace the likes of Johnson, Nassib, and Zettel without a pretty significant loss of production.

This is true, all good running backs have at least a decent O-line, but then again, we think Hicks and Martin can be excellent but RU's O-line is just as pourous...

Not quite. Stats from the NCAA.....

Sacks Allowed

RU #65....25 Sacks

PSU #111.....39 Sacks

Rushing Offense....

RU #65(again).....2039 yds, 4.35ypc

PSU #105.....1744 yds, 4.1ypc

Penn State is also moving to uptempo spread. I think it's more of the passing variety as opposed to the OSU/Houston type

I wasn't particularly happy with the overall performance of RU's O-line this past season, but I've NEVER seen any Rutgers line get overwhelmed by a two-man pass rush....as I witnessed happen to Pedd State's vs. Temple. IMO your O-line was worse than ours in 2015. As one who roots for PSU to lose every game, I can only hope that most of them are returning in 2016.

Only Angelo Mangiro, who started, and Kevin Reihner, a former graduate transfer, had senior eligibility for PSU's offensive line last season.

I'm not expecting a miracle, but the hope for improved play up front rests on two ideas: (1) a fresh start for a lot of guys in a new scheme that hopefully masks some of their deficiencies; and (2) the hopes that guys like Bates, Gonzalez, McGovern and Menet are ready to contribute. I'd rather pin my hopes on young 4- and 5-star recruits than converted defensive tackles, which was the case for more than one interior linemen at PSU the past two years.

PSU's collection of running backs and wide receivers might be the best in the B1G. With presumably a more mobile quarterback and the new scheme/linemen, there's at least a chance the offense could take a step forward, despite the loss Hackenberg.

You must have missed the second half when we hosted Penn St. :(

Call it whatever you want, but I want Darius or someone else very large to hit this kid in the mouth so hard this year that it breaks the damn facemask off his helmet.

I just call it football. But good luck with that. His program record power clean Tuesday was sandwiched between a 4.38 40-yard time Monday and seven 495-pound squats today. I see a lot of broken tackles coming this fall.

It balanced. For example last year Fordham threw the ball 353 times and ran the ball 462 time. The year before it was 504 rushes and 532 passes.

4.38 forty - LOL! Cheesesteak, thanks for the chuckle. Barkley was at best a 4.6 to 4.65 40 guy last season, the only way he could run a 4.38 is if you dropped a "D" from PEDD State. More likely the stopwatches at Pedd State are just not accurate. I remember Gerald Hodges being a 4.46 guy according to the Nits until he ran a 4.78 at the combine.

So ... Rutgers over TTFP this year?

Wait, their team record is only 390lbs? Impressive for a RB....about it.

Don't shoot the messenger. I wasn't there holding the watch, but I don't think it's out of the question for a player like Barkley to make major gains in speed, power and explosiveness with a year in a major college strength program. Regardless, he's a ridiculous athlete and probably already the best back in the league.

I was just pointing out that the weak 19-year-old RB can apparently clean 40 more pounds than the strongest guy on Rutgers last season, according to another piece I found on NJ.com.

Ok, so obviously there's some bias on my end since I'm a penn state fan and alum, and obviously you have some bias being a Rutgers fan....

Now that that's established you would be a fool to believe that Barkley was a 4.65 at best last year.... Did you watch him at all last year? He outran every player on your team and if you watch his season highlights you will see him break a 50 yard run on OSU where he outran their CB Eli Apple (Eli Apple just ran a 4.40 at the combine).

Say what you want about our QB and o line situations, they are their own seperate issues, but Barkley is amazing and hopefully stays healthy because he puts together some dazzling runs that are simply fun to watch if you enjoy football, not just your allegiance to your team.

I don't know that PSU will be able to put together a team to allow him to do it in his time here, but Barkley is the kind of talent that could win the Heisman if he was on the right squad
