OT: Season beach tags

I believe several Monmouth University students died being buried alive in a fraternity hazing incident on a beach. Basically, digging their own graves as the holes were too close to each other and collapsed. This happened several decades ago.
When I was young, we belonged to the Peninsula House Beach Club in Sea Bright. Great place for a kid to grow up in the Summer. Burned own while at Rutgers.

If memory serves (didn't look it up) I think that happened next door on the public beach.

I think I was under 10 so I can’t recall but I do remember our parents saying “it could happen to you!” as a scare tactic.
Yes, it was a very sad event. Pretty sure it was long ago when it was still called Monmouth College.

Not mentioned in article. From Manasquan website....

"Active US Military personnel and their immediate family members are admitted to all our beaches free of charge (ID required). Veterans(not including family members) are admitted free as well with proper identification."

Great point.

Just a personal opinion but I couldn’t agree more. I commuted to NYC via driving for many years and advocated higher tolls if nothing else but to reduce traffic and save time. My Same with the beach; charge more so as to fund operations and keep the PA and NY and other riff raff to a minimum.
Ike I said, just my view but keep the bennies and PA a folks to a minimum. Qualification: I am not saying all bennies or PA or visitors are undesirable, just “some/most” of them.
Yes , but you did Hilary…another elitist fool who for some odd reason actually believes their characterizations of everyone is beneath their level.

Yea, Stone, big F'n deal. Are you questioning there were 80,000+ in Wildwood or are you basing it on the picture MSNBC posted of Wildwood at 9:00am in keeping with real news? That $hit works both ways except Stone is one person and MSNBC is supposed to be a reputable news agency.

Now do FOX.

When are people going to open their eyes and realize all these "News" networks are partisan POS's.

I'm not a member of any party. I just believe in democracy and the rule of law.

Silly me.
And what all see on University campuses and city streets is your definition of Democracy and Rule of Law? May we suggest you learn the actual definition before posting it.

BTW. : You don’t have to be a member of any party to honestly admit what is a very serious growing problem.

I don't have to like what goes on. I don't have to agree with the reasons. I just have to understand and accept that protests have been a staple since before there was a United States. Where I draw the line is any violence or destruction of property.

IMO, this country lost it's mind during and after the pandemic. It still hasn't settled down. No wannabe autocrat is going to change that and may very well make it worse.

All I care about are the beaches safe from any colored tides? And when the hell is it going to be beach weather. FFS, it was in the 40s during the day yesterday with 2 weeks to Memorial Day weekend.

I know, I know. Heat came on in the morning😡.

As you are well aware, with the wind it's colder here. Old bones are not a fan.

The terms Rule of Law and Democracy have taken on much different meanings the past 20 years. I get that you feel a particular way… others think entirely opposite of what those sayings truly mean .All can protest in a peaceful manner. These past several weeks the art of disguise has manifested itself with the help of media and radical groups. Complicit Universities have played a major part in leading the things on their campuses.

Anybody have any beach plans for Memorial Day weekend? The big weekends for me (a local) are hard avoids- Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day. Water is too cold in May anyway.

Like I said I don't have to agree with the protestors. Matter of fact I believe they're blaming the wrong people. The media sucks. As Bill Maher said Friday, college campuses aren't under attack. 99% of students aren't involved and of those involved, a large percentage aren't students.

I don't know what the 72 in your handle represents. If it's graduation year you must remember when Anti-War protests took over and barricaded the RU-Newark Admin Bldg. There was a pic in either the Ledger or Evening News of counter protestors carrying a telephone pole with the aim of breaking down the door and clearing the bldg until the Newark police stopped them. I knew a couple people in the pic.

God help everyone if they weren't stopped lol.

It would be good if those who want to make political posts would do them on the Current Events board rather than potentially spoil this very interesting thread. Thanks to all!

I have friends visiting from Maryland then, and even though the beach is largely the same there as it is here, they keep talking about swimming, as if they are going to the Bahamas or something. I hate to break it to them. Personally, I never manage to get into the water until June...

swimming on MDW is for little kids, the water is in the low 60's at best right now. I always love when we have 80 degree days in late spring with an ocean breeze. People are shocked when they get on the beach and its like a giant AC unit blowing cold air on them
