Politi Doubles Down on Being Debbie Downer

So Politi ‘s not going to be at the game ? Nahhhh : Stevie boy will be there at some pre and post game parties sucking up all the freebie stuff. Then he either praises our efforts or bashes Rutgers , Schiano and the team for accepting the bid. Rutgers can’t win without a total win here.

One thing Politi doesn’t see is the tremendous opportunity this game presents RU.

The game kicks off at 11AM Friday.

The very next day, Norte Dame and Penn State kick off at Noon and 1pm. How many fans will get the days mixed up and look for those games on Friday?

A LOT.

You’ll have the two biggest CFB fan bases in NJ accidentally landing on the highest profile game the Knights have played in a generation.

If you want to grow your brand and attract some new fans, that’s the way you do it. Shame on Politi for not seeing it.

Go Knights!

This isn't 1970. ND isn't Top 2.

I mean you may be right. Teams can catch fire and become super popular with a young fan base. That hash kind of happened with Clemson and LSU and Michigan the past few years.
Heck, even Rutgers probably cracked the top 3 statewide there for a little bit in the ‘05-‘07 run.

But based on apparel and decorations and stickers on cars, ND and PSU are probably still top 2 among legit, serious fans in NJ.

which is why playing at basically the same time a day before them is a huge chance to make our mark.
Go Coach Greg! Go Knights!

In fairness, Politi toned down the “Rutgers shouldn’t play” message in the Rant podcast. If anything the podcast was modestly positive except for the opening remarks about how the Gator had to be so disappointed to have gotten stuck with Rutgers when they could’ve had Texas or FSU. That killed the whole thing for me. That wasn’t how it went down at all - it was abundantly clear the Gator simply wanted the game to be played so in this unique instance, they wanted the hungriest team for the opportunity which clearly was going to be a Rutgers / Illinois type opponent and not one of the brand names coming off a disappointing season (who might not even end up accepting and take up valuable time trying). I thought it was really sad that our own media reps had to mock our selection the way they did. If the Gator bowl wanted FSU they would’ve immediately pushed for a geography exception due to the late notice which didn’t happen.
Are you saying that some RU fans actually listen to Politi’s podcasts?
