Texas State joined the Western Athletic Conference in 2013 and later found a home in the Sun Belt Conference after the WAC dropped football.

Looking forward to 2018, with Ash being in his 3rd year and the schedule being back-loaded, can we dream about a 7-1 record going into November?

While we never know what a team will be three seasons from now, historically, seven of the first eight games would be winnable. Follow that with a bye week to end October before facing Wisc, Michigan, PSU & MSU to end the year. Might be quite an exciting way to end the year!

With the number of players that were cramping up on the field for Norfolk State the one year, my wife and I started calling them the Norfolk State Fainting Goats. Almost every play, someone suddenly fell over and had their legs up in the air being stretched. The "fainting goats" mascot nickname has now spread to all FCS teams we play.

The renovated Rutgers Stadium opened in 1994 with a 28-6 win over Kent State. Second game was a 17-12 win over West Virginia, which I believe was our last win over them. Hook em did not come to RU until 9/11/99 Texas won a 38-21 game that wasn't as close as the score indicated.

Everett Withers beat RU in 2011, while helming the University of No Classes.

Wasn't that the game in Chapel Hill when RU scored a TD two times and didn't have it count either time? There was something about UNC conveniently having no replay equipment available that game, IIRC. We lost by just 2. It was probably just one more game where Big East refs did in the Scarlet Knights (Illinois, WVU 2006, and Louisville 2012 also come to mind).
