RU Wrestling : Next up NorthEast Duels

157: Lewis vs Wingbermuehle (r-Fr) 3x Missouri high school champion. Wing gets takedown, 4 point backs and huge riding advantage. Up 6-0...Richie turns him and Wing screams so they stop it!!!!!! WTF...But this clearly angers lewis who goes on a crazy run with takedown and 8 backs...up 15-6 to start 3rd...wow what heart to win by major!!
RU 12 - OK 9

165: Perrotti vs r-jr Glass - Glass has lifetime 39-27 record. 19-12 and 20-15, so Perrotti needs to win this personally and for the team. Glass up 2-1 at end of first. i dont love this. AP continues to lok for the big move instead of getting his one points. giving up riding in mean time.
2-2 at end of 2nd with riding in Glass favor. Perrotti not getting good shots.
AP taken down...so now only a huge move can save him. gets reversal but no backs. time runs out and he loses 6-4.
RU 12 - OK 12

Giraldo will learn from that. He was dominating on his feet & just got caught. Hope he uses this learning experience to his advantage as he could AA this year if he does.

Although I expected a bit more from Perrotti, this is where the team has to really step up (post-165) if it wants to be good this year.

Perrotti needs to do a better job of not giving up his legs in neutral. He was terrible on his feet. Hard to believe he's an All American!

177: Bakuckas v Reed - both redshirt juniors. this should be close and tough. They trade takedown by Reed and quick reversal by Phil..holds on for 2 minutes of riding at end of first.
Phil gets out, but then Reed gets takedown and silly quick ref count for 2 tilt. Phil gets out, so now 6-4, but Phil has riding time.
Reed gets out, so 7-4, but like 7-5.
time runs out and Reed wins 7-6. arrgh.
RU 12- OK 15

184: Gravina v Joel Dixon (r-Fr)...Dixon was 2x 6A champion in Oklahoma. No Score at end of first. Gravina out, acts aggressive and eventually gets a stalling, but taken down then another escape. 2-2 at end of first. GRavina rides him out the wholle period! 3-2 win.
RU 15 - OK 15

197: Hrymack vs Johnson (r-Jr) - Hayden lets up takedown and 2 back, so down 4-0 quickly. come on back hayden. Johnson is a .500 record wrestler, so he has to win to make a statement that he is getting better. down 6-1 after another takedown. another escape and another takedown. rides him out to be up 8-2 plus riding at end of 1st. not good. Hayden tries for cradle, gets out of position and gives up reversal so now he gives up major. Hrymack gets out, so including riding it is a 7 point match with one minute to go.
Hrymack gave up 6 points off of his own shots. Just cant roll and Johnson kills him on Hrymack shots. ugh. so he gives up a major

Just think ... Dippery, Perrotti, Bakuckas, Hrymack all lose ... Giraldo gets pinned up 6-2 or so ... and with a huge match by Smith (definitely possible), we can still win.

285: Smith #8 versus Mike Brown...Where is OK's Ross Larson (r-Jr) #9?...Smith with two takedowns! he gets two points on tilt. ends period up 6-1. gets escape in second. so 7-1
Billy rides him, but not turning. needs tech fall or pin for RU to win. i dont understand the strategy. he wins but RU loses. Even if Hayden kept it to normal loss, we lose due to Brewer pin.
RU 18 - OK 19

HWT: No. 8 Billy Smith (#RUWR) wins by an 8-1 decision, but No. 17 RU falls in the dual, 19-18, to No. 22 Oklahoma.

LIfe as a Rutgers fan.

PS- Flo's rankings are better than whatever rankings RU Wrestling twitter uses. IMO

Yeah, not quite sure what happened in the 2nd and 3rd with Billy.

Lots of good stuff today, but lots of matches I'd like to have back.
