RU Wrestling : Next up NorthEast Duels

I think we lost this match due to a lot of mistakes which are easily fixable. I.E. not giving up bonus / backpoints and wrestling a full 7 minutes. Gave up some late points in a few matches.

125: McCabe vs Klump (r- Fr) from Nazareth, Pa. McCabe has great first period with takedown and 4 backs, but gives up an escape. 6-1 to start second. a few more points traded and McCabe wins 10-3
RU 3 - UNC 0

I also call BS on this match at 157... kid clearly cried to keep from getting stuck!! 2 team points right there...kid should get an Oscar for that performance! lying there crying like a bitch, then 10 seconds later he pops up like nothing happened!!

Husky doesn't kmow what he's talking about.

We should've won that match by a few points. Lewis should've had the pin. Smith should've majored. Perrotti shouldve won. Giraldo shouldn't have been stuck. I expected Giraldo to lose but giving up 6 team points vs 3 or 4 was huge. It's early but these mistakes need to be cleaned up ASAP.

133: Giraldo vs Headlee - Giraldo gets takedown and rideout for first period. up 2-0. Giraldo gets out, but gives up stalling point. 3-1 at end of second. in third, giraldo rides a lot and then gives up escape and quick takedown. they tie 4-4 at end of regulation. Giraldo has slowed down a lot.
No points in first session OT, Giraldo gets escape in his down part. Headlee down to 11 seconds, but Giraldo hold on to win the 9 minute match by 4-3.

I'm being totally ungrateful here, but we're winning way too many 7 point matches today. Need a little more urgency when the scoring matters!

We agree on this issue

133: No. 19 Anthony Giraldo (#RUWR) hangs on in tiebreakers and wins, 6-4. No. 17 RU leads No. 13 UNC, 6-0.

141: Ashnault vs Henderson #5 - AA has great second period with 2 takedowns and rideout. up 4-2. AA gets out in thrd period, so 5-2 with riding. AA gets called for stalling as they are near edge and he spins. the new stalling rules are not being applied correctly.
AA wins 7-4 !!

Awesome win by Anthony Ashnault !! NJ Wrestling character and Historian 'Screwy Louie Lazzeri' on the mic doing commentary all day is worth the price of Flo Wrestling all by himself, lol.

141: No. 8 Anthony Ashnault (#RUWR) picks off No. 5 Evan Henderson (UNC), 7-4, to remain perfect!! No. 17 RU leads No. 13 UNC, 9-0

149: Dippery vs Barber (r-Sr) from Westtield NJ...action but no score in first. Dippery down to start 2nd. Dippery leaves it up to the refs who refuse to call stalling, which barber did for last 3 minutes. No takedowns and inability to escape in second is not going to cut it for Dippery.

Not a huge fan of the new stalling rules at this point either. Too dependent on the refs subjective judgments from what I've seen so far. Hopefully it gets better.

And that match wasn't even that close...Ash dominant against another top kid!! give up meaningless takedown at buzzer!!

anyone know if Dippery having trouble making weight? seems very sluggish after 1st period

157: Lewis vs Jack Clark (r-Fr) another NJ kid ...Lewis gets first takedown, escape 30 later by clark. They trade escapes in 2nd and 3rd periods and in the clutch Lewish gets another takedown. Escape by Clark but Lewis stays aggressive and wins 5-3. two nice wins by Lewis today.

165: Perrotti vs Ramos #3 - TAnother NJ Kid...his will be a tough match. If Perrotti does not win today, he will likely drop out of rankings. Perrotti gets 2pts and Ramos gets escape. AP up 2-1....Ramos out in 3rd. AP gets takedown and 2 point tilt...i will take it,, but if this were in reverse i would not be so happy.
And fully wrestling on the edge AP gets a stall against him? WTF with refs rules application.
Perrotti beats #3...what a day.

174: Bakuckas vs Staudenmayer...Flo has it as John Michael, but this his last name is Staudenmayer. he is from around the corner to me. Staudenayer gets escape in second, Bakuckas on feet in third gets takedown, and staudenmayer escape. Phil loses with takedown and 2 backs move in SV OT.
not good for Phil's morale so far. both winnable matches.

Random but Minnesota is losing 28-0 to NCST right now. Nebraska over Lehigh 21-3 as well.

184: Gravina vs Alex Utley #20 (r-Sr.)Utley gets two takedowns in first period, gravina down 4-2. Escape in 2nd by Utley, so 5-2 at end of second period. Utley looks like bigger and older version of Gravina. GRavina out in 3rd, but in desperate attempt on takedown by Nick, he is taken down. #20 Utley is just a bit too much and wins 7-4.

I wouldn't say regressed. I'd just say that we're still waiting for him to take that true next step forward. Same with Hrymack and Gravina.

Fair enough. However, Gravina is only a frosh so I'm not sure it makes sense to put him in the same boat at this point and Hrymack didn't have the same expectations that Bakuckus did.

A lot of guys on this board expected Phil to be just as good or better than Zannetti.
