Basketball Rutgers Basketball falls to Penn State, 61-46

I thought our colors are Red and Black? They are on the Big Ten colorwheel. We have done Red-Black stripeout in football (78-0 game) .. why change to White now? And why do it against PSU who is also white? Is this the idea of PSU Mullen?

How about we start with a loud clarion call for all fans to wear scarlet. It’s a pet peeve that we can’t even have the majority of fans wear scarlet.

I'm sure the many thousands of empty seats we routinely see at RU football home games didn't help matters either!

I was going to say it's tough at a night game, then I remembered that the psu game I attended was a 7:30pm game in the rain....yet everyone was still in white or blue. It's totally a cult mentality.

the colors have always been scarlet with white and black as complimentary

we did a scarlet and white thing back about 20 years ago vs Notre Dame

our spring game is Scarlet and White
And they gave out scarlet and white t-shirts for that Notre Dame game if I recall correctly. Maybe just in the 100s though - can't remember exactly. Asking Rutgers fans to do this on their own will undoubtably be a fail.

it was just the 100s i believe but done really well and that particularly RU team sucked that year but somehow we beat ranked Notre Dame that night

They sent emails to season ticket holders today. The email was specific to the section that you sit in so that people that sit in odd sections received an email telling them to wear red and people that were in even sections were told to wear white.

This is going to be a major failed attempt imo. There are tons of 300 level seats available for dollars.

Who in their right mind picked an 8:30 weeknight game against Penn State to try and pull off a stripe out.

bwahhahhahhahahhahahahh! If they gave out awards for lack of self awareness, you'd have a mantle full of them. Your position on this is pure irony gold, almost as good as your post earlier today on the weather thread, below, giving me crap about posting weather on a football board while bawling like a little girl about not being allowed to post your pandemic nutcase conspiracy posts on a politics subforum on a weather board. It's almost impossible to make this crap up, but you keep doing it. We could call the award the "Scotty" in honor Michael Scott, possibly the least self-aware character that ever inhabited our TVs.
not really a conspiracy theory to say masks didnt work and 6 feet apart was made up, theyve already admitted that

I don't even currently own any white Rutgers gear. I don't even own any white t-shirts.

My son's got a white scarlet knights shirt that he'll be wearing. I've got a gray sweatshirt I'll wear for at least the start of the game, until it gets too warm.

I'm all the way at the top of the 300s, though, so what we do really won't matter much.

I usually try to make it up for the PSU game, but the 8:30pm tip makes it tough with getting home around midnight, so I initially passed...but these $8-10 seats (with fees) are tough to pass up knowing that I'm sure it'll be a tougher ticket the next couple of seasons. If I come, guess we'll need to make sure to wear blue in case we're in a "white" section. 🙂

Same here. No white and of course I’m in an even section. I’ll try to get something before then but I’m not breaking the bank for it.

Maybe we can put all the Penn State fans in an even numbered section to help out.

I love our school but this is gonna be hilariously bad. I'm not sure I even own anything white

This is the first thing in recent memory where they are requesting people to wear white to a game.

Have quite the collection of red, and black for blackout games. Generally don't wear white anyway outside of formal wear.

I'm wondering if the choice of color scheme for this game is because they expect there to be Penn State fans in the house wearing white, and this will make them stand out less.

1. Gross
2. If you’re going to do things like this, just purchase the shirts and put them on the seats.

Or are we too poor to pay for 8,500 t shirts?

When they did this years ago, Coca-Cola sponsored the purchase of the shirts and they were laid out on the seats before fans arrived. Only in the 100s though.

Agree to disagree. Reading above comments others have same issues.

And white unlike other schools is not an official Rutgers school color. Why not black?

RU has had pretty cool blackouts. Have we ever had a white out?

And I will bet you most RU fans have way more black R stuff than white.

And one of PSU’s official colors is white.

Just for giggles on my Facebook site Fans Edge Rutgers site, I swiped right 60 times. There were 4 pieces of clothing that were white. All red, black and surprisingly grey/gray. Just saying.
It's not often I agree with G-RUnit but I do here. An 8:30 weeknight game isn't the time to do this, especially if RU isn't giving out the T-shirts. The stripe out is not going to go well.

If there were going to be 8,000 T-shirts waiting on seats when fans walked in? Then, absolutely.

I think thats how how normal schools do it..but our fans arent normal. Down in the 100s i see them wearing blues and greens all the time
