Rutgers Wrestling ---- NCAA Tournament / Updates & Results (All Sessions)

Great season for Ashnault. We know he's not happy with 4th. Needed to finish that ankle pick in the 2nd.

ASH loses 7-6, will be 4th on the AA Podium. McKenna only a freshman, so Ashnault will see him down the road most likely.

Congrats to a great season for Anthony Ashnault
Not only will Ash run into Mckenna again but Heil has 2 more year eligibility left... 141 has lots of great young talent returning.. If Ash considers moving up to 149 then Zain Train will be waiting. The path to a NCAA title doesn't get any easier.

Joey McKenna is an "old" frosh. We played football before HS together. He is a year younger than me and I just turned 22. I think he delayed his graduation from HS one year and then redshirted. I am pretty sure he turns 21 this year. Not a typical frosh.

RU currently tied for 14th will fall some by the end.

Ashnault also Redshirted, not sure if he was held back in Jr HS like so many do now

Heil is a very big 141, I wouldn't be surprised to see him at 149 next season. I expect both Ashnault and Heil to be 141 again next season. Kolodziek (RS Princeton) will be a very good 141 next season as well at Princeton (also via Blair)

Great job by Ash. Can't get upset when you lose ONLY to the #1 and 2 seeds, and you're #4, bottom line. Hopefully this gets him to work harder, and smarter, and study this guys so next year he takes them both down, which I think he will!

BTW - team wise we're sitting in 15th with 30 points and that's exactly where we'll finish. Can get to 33, however, can't overtake Lehigh nor can anyone, below us, get to 30 points. Considering the tough Thursday, and rough tourney's from a couple guys expected to do more, not bad at all IMHO.

Almost threw my remote thru the TV screen at end of period 2. AA improved over last year; expect that to continue next season.

The 141 kid coming out of RS from Ohio state is supposed to be very good too. Mckenna, Thorn, Jordan, Jack all return as well as most of the 41 place winners. Jeez, 41 is going to be stacked next year.

Hope AP is healthy enough to go, he may be going out there just to say goodbye.

He's staying at 141, which will be loaded next year with 7 AAs returning plus Kolodzik, M.Jordan or K.Hayes, Thorn, Guilbon & likely some others.

I've been trying to find out for a couple of days now, if we finish 15th is that our best team finish ever?

Anthony Perrotti closes his career with an 85-46 record and is the 3rd 2x All-American in Rutgers history

Not sure. We had one other year with a 2-AA finals but not sure how the team points were then, or how they were scored, but my guess is "yes."

I'm ecstatic that AP got it this year because it wipes away the "2014 was just a good run" off the table. Kid was a bull this year and shows that RU can develop high end wrestlers with the right mentality and athletic ability. He didn't enter with the fanfare or pedigree of Mason, Winston or Camp but ended up on the podium twice.

It was a pleasure to watch Perrotti perform the past 3 years. His attitude and intensity will be sorely missed. Now time for Gravina and Lewis to step it up next year.

Ant was never held back. He was actually a full year younger then people in his grade. So NO he did not grey shirt... He started school a full year younger then his classmates. He was only 17 his FULL senior year. This will only make him stronger.

How do you get -1.0 points? Penalized?

So funny. 21 year old college freshman... That's flat out embarrassing.

Ok, so he's 20 and 3/4's, if your going to nitpick, but it's not really the point . That's still one pretty old freshman when you think about it.
Based on his age he should be a young college junior.
