No. 20 LSU (7-4) entered the year with much higher aspirations than the Citrus Bowl. No. 13 Louisville felt the same way around the middle point of the year. But their matchup should be worthy of New Year’s Eve, despite falling outside the official New Year’s Six.

Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson leads the Power 5’s highest-scoring offense against a defense that might be among the country’s 10 best. And don’t think because Leonard Fournette’s sitting out the game that LSU lacks a weapon. Backup Derrius Guice went All-SEC and will be a handful for the Cardinals’ strong defense.

LSU entered as about a field goal favorite, with a Vegas over/under around 59.5. That would mean the betting market expected a final score in the vicinity of LSU 31, Louisville 28. And despite all the star power in the backfields, it was both defensive lines that held the biggest projected advantages, according to the advanced stats.

Is it just me or does it appear as though ESPIN/ABC is telling their guys to, I don't know, "push the envelope" on the topic of kids sitting out bowl games?

- talk about incessantly

- all agree with CM's decision with the "he had multiple injuries during the season" line HOWEVER CM only missed a single game, parts of 2 games (early in the season), and played the final 6 regular season games in their entirety.

- are calling it a "trend" when only 3 guys have done so (and LF is injured)

- announcer during Citrus Bowl saying "why is it all about the individual, in the NFL, but "all about the team" in college? Shouldn't it be all about the individual in college as well?" WTF??!!! It SHOULD BE "all about the TEAM" in college!!! WOW!!!! DISGUSTING!!!!

...it's almost like they're pushing for me kids to do so in the future. SMH.

LSU playing hard under the tutelage of Coach O, leading at the half 16-6 . Lamar Jackson , Heisman winner, only 2-10 passing and minues -24 yards rushing.

Ga Tech beating Kentucky 20-3 at the half.

Looking like a great day to be a Yellow Jacket. The men's basketball team is about to beat #9 UNC to start the ACC season, and Tech is up 26-10 with 6:13 to go in what has been a feisty TaxSlayer bowl.

Maybe I put the Scarlet Nation whammy on Tech, as Kentucky is within eight with over 3 minutes to play. A couple of huge plays by the Wildcat offense.

And a great play call by Paul Johnson on 3rd and 4, throwing long to a wide open receiver when Kentucky called a corner blitz. Tech finishes the drive with a TD and is back up 15 with two minutes plus. The chant of "ACC!" breaking out.

These 2 games have been real clunkers. I thought the L'ville -LSU game would be very competitive and Lamar Jackson fun to watch. They didn't show up.

Hoping the semi final games are much, much better

Well, the fans in Kentucky still have basketball season... Louisville is beating Indiana right now... :)
