Hey all,

Sorry forgot to add "OT" to the title
Not volunteering this year because the commute to Edison is much further than when it was in Paramus.

Any of you got extra tixxx? Preferably Friday afternoon or Saturday/Sunday?

Thanks!

Looks funny to see "Plainfield CC in Edison." It is in Edison, but I never really think of that part of Edison as being, well, Edison, lol. Went to the final round a few years back, when Irene was bearing down on our area and they shortened the tourney to 54 holes. Held the final round on Saturday and got to see Dustin Johnson win - guy hits the living piss out of the ball.

Great course and venue to watch a tournament. I was just in NC last week and attended the Whyndam at Sedgefield. Crazy atmosphere with TIger there.

Won't be able to attend this week but will miss going.

This course is too easy for the pros. I expect the winning score to be around -24.

Its actually taking place 3 minutes from my house. The traffic has been unreal. I'll be in Vegas this weekend anyway so ironically I have to miss it.

I was there for the final round as well. Because of the impending storm they started the final round at 7AM that day. The Tour players made Plainfield CC look like a pitch and putt course. Older courses like PCC are not long enough for today's pros. They were literally driving a few of the par 4's.

Played at Bayonne today. NJ's own, Morgan Hoffman was there, playing with a sponsor. He shot a 28 on the front. a 28.

It's hard to fathom how good these guys are and wonder what course is a real test anymore.

Would love to go but I'm working the entire weekend. Haven't been to an actual tour event sincy

I'll never forget Fred Couples talking at a clinic about how he practices. He grabbed a 6 iron. He said he doesn't go for distance, he practices accuracy. He hit his first shot maybe 190 yards. He then said he tries to hit every shot the same way. He proceeded to hit 5 shots in a row that you could put a blanket over. None was more than 6 feet from the original ball. Amazing.

Interesting. I saw Tom Watson do the same on the range at the Masters in 2010 from about 180 yards. We sat and watched in amazement as he continued to hit shots to the same spot on the green. Some of the shots were shaped in different ways but they all ended up in the same place within feet of one another.

Miss Bus in threads like this.

So far the pros aren't eating the course up. Tee shots seem to be having trouble finding the fairway which appear pretty narrow and greens are really fast and somewhat tricky.

Half way through the 2nd round -6 leads.

Yeah Plainfield is winning right now. Aside from what's quoted above, 4" thick rough is hard to get out of. I'll be there on Sunday. Can't wait.

Yesterday during the telecast of the Barclay Tournament they showed a shot of HPSS and the campus. The announcers talk about Rutgers and threw in some points about football being only a week away. The people of NJ should be proud of state school according to one announcer.

Keep in mind they are playing course as a par 70.

It's not all that unusual for the pros to play a course at a lower par. I believe Baltusrol was a a par 70 or 71 during the Open and PGA. Merion maybe too. As far back in the 60's when I worked a PGA event at Essex County, the par was changed to 70 because of the length of 8 (which has since been lengthened) and, I think 16.

Fred Couples was mentioned in an earlier message (re: his practice method). Has one of the nicest, easiest, swings in the game.

Spieth has made 4 bogeys on the front nine and is now +6, four over the projected cut line. I doubt we see him on the weekend.

The greens are very tricky with tough pin placements today but players are also having trouble keeping it in the fairways. They have setup this Donald Ross course to be tough to score this week.

The course is fun for spectators and i love the way they stuck the lunch trucks in there.I was lucky enough to have the Great Gretzky let me have a picture with him.

Course is beating up those who take a shorter course for granted. The approach areas are very narrow and the greens were designed by an evil person...Sometimes you don't know how the ball stops at all with grading. Gotta pop it on, no bump and run. BTW easy transport from Metro Park for $5 parking.

Spieth failed a big test. He could not conquer the tough Northeast golf course.

I thought he'd do well. A course that isn't too long, where accuracy and putting would be at a premium.

I think he just didn't have it this week. He seemed off his game from the very beginning. No one can be "on" for an entire season, especially someone who plays as much as he does.
