I’m Pretty Happy We Aren’t In The Mix

https://nypost.com/2023/01/21/bronny-james-choosing-between-ohio-state-usc-and-oregon/

Pikes strength has been the team chemistry he develops. I don‘t want the drama and his dad can’t help himself.
Agreed don’t see this as a positive for anyone who ends up with the kid, wish him well but it’s going to be a lot for any program.
College basketball is hard enough. The media attention, expectations, people looking to tear him and his family down, not going to be easy. The sooner this kid gets to the nba the better for him

This would have an almost Tebow-like vibe. Meaning you can’t just critique a player’s performance and limitations without being called a hater. The whole thing would be a nightly circus, at least in the beginning.

Lol. Tebow like?? Tim won 2 nattys a Heisman and got jobbed out of a second one. I assume you are talking about his NFL career

There is zero uncertainty on my part..I don’t want LeBron anywhere near the program
So you want the guy who grew up in the projects without a father, who was handed the world at 15 years old, labeled the Chosen One on the cover of Sports Illustrated yet somehow EXCEEDED expectations by becoming arguably the best basketball player the world has ever seen, who has never had a serious scandal - no drugs, partying, or unfaithfulness to his high school sweetheart, the man who opened a school that will provide thousands of graduates with free college tuition, who has by ALL accounts been the tremendous father he never had….you want THAT guy, nowhere near the Rutgers basketball program?

Btw please save your Fox News regurgitated response for someone who hasn’t already seen it a million times. We all know what’s coming, so please just save it.

Relax Dominique, no one asked you and you won’t be counted in the nonexistent poll.

Why don’t you have a white claw and hit the hay

Other than the 4 years LJ played in the stability of the Miami Heat (Pat Riley) , LeBron has played an additional 15 years in NBA. He’s on his third coach in 6 years in LA assuming Ham makes it to the end of the year. He had 5 coaches in 7 years in his first Cleveland stint…Cleveland 2 features 3 coaches in 4 years…He also forced Cleveland to make free agent signings that ruined the team and destroyed their salary cap structure. So 11 coaches in his years not with someone strong enough to stand up to his nonsense. And his last 2 stops he’s convinced himself he should be GM as well. That is why I don’t want him anywhere near the team. We were lucky to get Pike. I don’t want to lose him over one player. No player is worth that.

@RU23 Funny enough none of this information came from Fox News. Douchebag.

WTF

You guys are such homers. If Rutgers were a finalist you’d be drooling over him. Sour grapes.

You think Wagner’s dad and grandfather were choir boys? Compare them to Lebron and rethink the scorn.

Agree or disagree with his game or politics…but having his kid here would be good for the program.

I spelled out, in great detail, how many coaches LJ has killed. This has zero to do with us not being finalists. Regardless of how talented Bronny is, I just don’t want James family associated with the team. Two of you guys insist on linking this with politics. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.
As to your point that Bronny being on the team would be good for the team I wholeheartedly disagree. It might give the team, for a short time, more visibility. Unfortunately the visibility would be from Mebron injecting himself into the equation and undermining Pike.

For the record this is a pretty lame thread because by saying this you don't think Pike can handle his players and program. BTW I must have missed where Pike offered Bronny to begin with. So we basically have a thread about someone Pike never offered / never recruited all because of one clickbait article.

The potential for all you have brought up is real, the risk reward equation for a potential 1 and done is not worth it.
The Fox News reference is laughable on so many levels.

Youre Wrong Donald Trump GIF by Election 2016

Billy Witz and Adam Zagoria of the New York Times wrote why Rutgers' recruitment of James is nothing to laugh about.

"One school making an unexpected push to recruit James is Rutgers, a basketball striver," Witz and Zagoria wrote. "As far-fetched as it might seem, Rutgers is hoping Coach Steve Pikiell’s strong record of development — turning lightly regarded recruits such as Geo Baker, Ron Harper Jr. and Myles Johnson into decorated Big Ten players — carries some appeal to James."

JOG ON…. If you don’t like the thread ignore it. I guess when you have 15k+ posts you obviously have an imagined sense of knowledge. He’s an idea. Read more, post less

James' offer list is not what one would expect from some ranked inside the top 100, with only one offer from NC Central, but reported interest from some of the best programs across the country. Duke, Kentucky, Memphis, Michigan, North Carolina, and UCLA are some of the programs interested in James, as is Rutgers.

Reported interest is different from an actual offer, show me where the RU offer is in his recruiting profile.

Again we're wasting time on a kid that was never offered. You guys always take the bait and then latch on to it for decades sometimes. And I'll repeat, bringing this up is akin to coach can't handle his players or program.

I never stated we offered him. However we clearly did recruit him a bit. I don’t know the level of interest we had… see it doesn’t hurt to say so if you don’t know something

Here is what you said, and it’s patently false.

. So we basically have a thread about someone Pike never offered / never recruited all because of one clickbait article.

So I admittedly don’t know our level of interest but we did recruit him. ( maybe just to appease LBJ) Do you have a problem with someone starting a thread to point out that a big name we recruited has listed teams he has interest in and RU is not on it? It happens several times a week on this site. Wanna guess how many of your 15k posts add absolutely nothing to this site??? Again, if you don’t like the thread just ignore it. It’s seems you find your opinion to be more important than other people’s. I can assure you, it’s not.

I don't think this is a Bronny James or LeBron James issue, this is an issue in dealing with any high profile recruit and whether that recruiting circle believes that the program they choose, will provide the best 1 to 2 year path towards the next level of basketball.

Any program that lands Bronny James immediately has a different spotlight on them, but I think it's severely overblown as if the parent becomes a helicopter coach or whatever people who don't like LeBron or Nike or whatever is associated with that.

I think at the end of the day, it's Oregon or Ohio State and Oregon provides the most likely influence for Bronny in terms of marketing directly with Phil Knight AND a program that is off the radar in terms of media coverage. Eugene Oregon isn't Columbus Ohio and LA (USC).

But make no mistake, RU would gain in popularity for the next 3 to 5 years if they landed Bronny, irregardless of what the fans think. It's more important what the peers and future recruiting classes think, which is residual carry-over.

We are already seeing that carry over just by being involved with Dylan Harper and landing Gavin Griffiths....both are considered higher rated kids than Bronny and those kids are helping raise the profile of RU in general. To say you don't want free marketing and exposure for RU, because of a "what might happen", is pure insanity.

If he picks Ohio State, does anyone think the Ohio State at RU game, isn't going to be a popular ticket and more free exposure, just by playing at RU, in the largest media market in the world (NYC just miles away)???

And there's a younger brother that is also eventually going to be a high level recruit down the road. These are all "wins", for any program in terms of recruiting.

right…people are only saying we don’t want him because we won’t get him. Lame.

“Nah, I wouldn’t want a fancy car” says the guy who can’t afford a fancy car.

The kid might not be a star talent, but dismissing him because of who his father is or some other bogus excuse is a loser’s coping mechanism.

You can be sure that if he committed here every single one of you would be happy about it.

Right, starts thread that basically says Pike can't handle his business if the kid came here. Doesn't like response calling out thread. Then after back and forth responds if you don't like thread just ignore it.

Sorry I invaded your safe space. Clearly debate or dissent is frowned upon these days as witnessed by much of your ending. Only group-think allowed.

Now you are telling me why I started this thread? In what world you think that you know my reasoning better than I do?

And as far as my losing coping mechanism and car analogy, I’m confident the cars in my garage cost more than your house.

I started the thread saying I dont want the kid as I don’t think the aggravation is worth it . I still believe that. You disagreed. I’m totally ok with that. You then backed your opinion up with falsehoods while I took the time to point out the coaches LBJ has ruined. I’m all for debate but you can’t choose your own facts. I’m guessing a very very very small percentage of your 15k+ posts are researched. Just your knee jerk reactions. As I said earlier you may be better off reading more and posting less. I know that will be hard for you being the smartest guy here 🤡 but just try it.

Yep I got one thing wrong but it doesn't take away from the premise that you don't believe Pike can run his program and manage his players with that type of take.

Of course, I haven't spent the last few posts making personal attacks because I don't get triggered by those that disagree with me. Has nothing to do with how many posts or whatever other nonsense you want to spew chunks about.

If you wanted to debate you would never have gone there. However, you did and then doubled down...lol. Says a lot about you. Have a great day.

We're not in the mix but nothing wrong with if we were. Crazy to think there would any drama. LeBron is pretty low key and has been pretty much hands off in the kids recruitment. If Pike was recruiting him, he's definitely one of Pike's kind of players and I'd be happy to have him. And having LeBron at his games is not bad publicity in my opinion. Rutgers basketball is lately making a name for itself and it's only getting better with the classes Pike is bringing in.

OK so you were factually wrong and and didn’t react well to what I felt was snarky.. Point taken.
My apologies for the tone.

I’m here, like you are, because we are RU fanatics. It’s been a long while since we’ve had something so positive going on. I just don’t want to see it ruined. I think I can be worried about what a player can do to team chemistry without it being an indictment on PIKE.. 11 NBA head coach scalps is outrageous and he’s getting more entitled every year.
