No. 21 Rutgers Wrestling Opens 2022-23 Dual Season with Clarion at College Ave. Gym, road Saturday to face Sacred Heart and No. 6 Arizona State

I thought Boone looked remarkably improved. He may not be AA in his career, but still has an excellent chance to make the Nationals, by qualifying or by Wildcard. Interesting to see Soldano's style against Aaron Brooks. Would be a quick match I would think.

Need Poz and Soldano both in the line-up. Soldano just beat a 197 NQ. He'll be stronger at 197.
Respectfully disagree. Thought Soldano looked much smaller than his opponent. No need to move one of them up(when not their ideal weight) when they both have redshirts available. Even though it is a "team" sport you put wrestlers at their best weight to AA, not what makes the best dual team(unless they do not have a redshirt)

Get over yourself. Not everything is about you. I think most people here would agree with me regarding Oneill
Who said anything about me? I'm just pointing out that you pick at everyone and really have no insight other than shit-talking. Big deal, you talk about the wrestling room antics...Yay! for you. When you have stepped on the mat in an RU room, I'll respect what you say.

Just my opinion, Poz might not be the one making the decision. If Poz was clearly better, Soldano would redshirt. I really think Soldano must be really impressing in the room and if he does well in his 5 events, he will be the guy.
I’ve said this since Day 1. I’m nut sure Poz beats Soldano. Soldano is a different level wrestler. You saw it today against the #20 kid in his 1st collegiate match.

Unfortunately, I don't get to see him. Your comment about best weight to AA is interesting. Is that true? Seems not in sync with the team race at NCAA where the best line-up yields the greater number of points. Regardless, something has to happen to get both guys in the line-up, sooner than later.

Welcome back, Crackers. Mini-Mind has only had me to annoy.

Yeah but are talking about arguably one of the top 2-3 wrestlers in all of college right now. Not exactly a great barometer.

Poz had that kind of beginning as well but was more controlled. I'd really like to know how they face-off against each other.
Nah Poz didn’t beat the #20 in country by major in his first match. I like Poz a lot and am glad we have him. But also he took 4th in a strange year with no Ivy’s. Not lessening his accomplishment but also cannot overlook that fact. He’s very good and no doubt he is still a top level talent but I am telling you Soldano has 4x and NC potential

I just pray that we can keep them both. Both are elite. Same with the 125 and 141 situations.

That said, it's a long season. Anything can happen.

Someone hinted here last year that there may be some plans for Poz to go 197 in the future. Not sure if that is still part of the plan.

According to scarletknights.com, RU won 29-4, 9 matches to 1.

I thought that Clarion always had a good program. Is that not still the case?

They're a young team this year... But they are well coached, and put out a tough kid at each weight... We earned our points tonight... Good opening dual for the year...

And remember Shawver has a redshirt available. Expect to see Dean in the duals and Shawver un-attached in the opens. But I expect Dean P to be the starter this season and Shawver to redshirt.
Unless something change today we should see Shawver in both matches tomorrow. He was working out today to make weight for tomorrow matches.

Strange move in my opinion. Two things that would change my mind-Shawver is getting the better of Dean in the room(not what I am hearing) or Shawver is totally against a redshirt, do not see why they would burn his tomorrow? Let it play out this semester in opens and then make a decision. But as I said in many posts, that is why I dont get paid the big bucks to make these decisions.

The coaches will make that decisions. The practices I have attended they do not work out together.
That’s odd considering they’re the same weight and clearly the two of the top three lightweights on the roster

I concur they don't even have the lower level close to being filled. Not sure why that program gets priority when they draw flies. What a joke of a decision by Hobbs.
Agreed. This is the draw against a major in state rival… @PatHobbs next time do the damn right thing… The Barn easily could have handled the 500+ WBB fans, while JMA would have been filled and brought in a few extra bucks for the AD…

He's not big enough for 197. He's not building size in his redshirt year. After practice Poz is 184.
Boone put on 30 to 40 lbs. You're telling me if Poz takes a redshirt year, he can't get up to 200 to 205lbs and cut to 197lbs. That's 16 to 20 lbs. Can easily do that.

I didn't think it was that bad. Seats close to the mat. No intermission so it went fast. Parking was ok. I'm ok with once a year.
It's small time. Goodale has grown the program well past that and that's a credit to him, it's now become an event. It was a bad call by the AD to move them in favor of a sport that drew maybe 500 fans and has become an afterthought.
