Still think Nolan Ryan, Leroy Stanton , Don Rose for an over the hill shortstop Jim Fregosi who you plan to move to third was much worse. I’ll withhold judgement on Cano trade at least until after this year. I would not have made that trade. It would be hard to top the Cano/Diaz disaster. It was an all-time awful trade.
Seaver trade not much better.Who was that 5 tool player we got among the 5 in that disaster? Steve Henderson? The things that makes this comparable are the money involved and Kelenic. If Kelenic turns into a player this could be on that level.Still think Nolan Ryan, Leroy Stanton , Don Rose for an over the hill shortstop Jim Fregosi who you plan to move to third was much worse. The Seaver trade is truly awful but the reason I'd put this one as being worse is those Mets teams were awful and stayed awful. The Diaz/Cano trade helped tank a season and is a barrier towards being a good team going forward.Seaver trade not much better.Who was that 5 tool player we got among the 5 in that disaster? Maybe BVW has a brain after all.2 non top 100 guys going back but apparently we had to give up Nimmo or Mauricio? LOL good thing BVW might have learned his lesson.

IIRC McNeil was never a top 100 prospect either.MLB Pipeline has issued its Top 100 list of prospects. The good news is that the Mets had four in the Top 100. The bad news is that none are in the Top 50. Here goes:
#62 - Ronny Mauricio - #10 SS
#63 - Francisco Alvarez - #5 C
#84 - Andres Gimenez (His ranking is going in the wrong direction.)
#93 - Brett Baty - #6 3B
Mets had one player "graduate" from the list, who was ranked #51 last year. Name of Pete Alonso. A Top 50 ranking is clearly not the be all and end all.
Others receiving votes: Kelenic (11), Woods-Richardson (98)
What makes the Seaver trade much worse was the prospects they could and shold have asked for. Guys like Ray Knight, Mario Soto, Charlie Liebrandt and Mike LaCoss. The first two were very good, the other two were serviceable major league ballplayers. The Seaver trade is truly awful but the reason I'd put this one as being worse is those Mets teams were awful and stayed awful. He wasn't even a Top 30 Mets prospect until 2018, the year he came up. Injuries may have had something to do with that though.IIRC McNeil was never a top 100 prospect either.
First let me state that I hated the Seaver trade. (Thank you M. Donald Grant & Dick Young). With that said, Henderson became the Mets best hitter for a few years, Doug Flynn was a gold glove caliper 2nd Baseman, (light hitter) and Pat Zachrey was a decent number 2 starter. Dan Norman was a complete bust. After the Dick Young article, Seaver wanted out. The Ryan trade will go down as the worst ever for the Mets, given the return. Honorable mention to the Amos Otis/Joe Foy trade. What makes the Seaver trade much worse was the prospects they could and shold have asked for. YupWe always seemingly have to give up our best prospects while others can yield relative chumps :chairshot:
The money is a big part of the awfulness of the deal.He has a big hill to climb to be comparable to Ryan.
Don’t really care about the Wilpons money. The money is a big part of the awfulness of the deal.
All that talent, and he had great taste also. What a loss,so sad.,Kobe Bryant was a Mets fan. Grew up loving Daryl Strawberry and still had Ron Darling's baseball card.

Having lived through that Seaver debacle, I always feel there is a special place in hell for Mr. Grant and Mr. Young. I know Seaver wanted out but they could have extracted more for him. Knight was better than Flynn or Henderson and Soto was better than Zachery although perhaps not major league ready. I still rank it as the worst trade in Met history because Seaver was a proven commodity who should have commanded more in terms of return. Ryan at the time was still unproven, had some control issues and did not reach Seaver status until after the trade.
I only care about the money because they're only willing to spend a certain amount. $20mil/year on Cano is wasted money that could go to a productive player. If the Cohen deal goes through and he spends like a big market owner I won't care about the money either, with the Wilpons you should care.Don’t really care about the Wilpons money.
She shouldnt be with the MetsMet adviser Jessica Mendoza likely will not be part of Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN. What exactly does she do for the Mets?

Well, the mets are the only team with 2 rival fan bases within the same state, so that is not unexpected.

There are others:
Connecticut has Met fans and Red Sox fans, both of whom hate the Yankees.
Ohio has Red fans and Tiger fans, both of whom hate the Indians.
Illinois has White Sox fans and Cardinal fans, both of whom hate the Cubs.
And California has Giant fans, Angel fans, and Padre fans, ALL of whom hate the Dodgers!
