OT: March Weather Banter; OG Thread Was: Winter Storm Thursday 2/20: Very Likely Somewhere Between A Non-Event and a Minor Event (oof)

Was at a outdoor Bday party last night. Everyone was enjoying themselves and seemingly within 5 minutes everyone was cold and went inside. I don't remember a temp drop like that.

I was on the flip side of that several years ago in Oudenaarde, Belgium with 16,000 riders starting at different distances for the amateur ride before the pros riding the Tour of Flanders. A backdoor warm front was unexpected. We started at dawn it was 48 degrees at the start. The front moved in and it started to rain. You rode fast and hard just to keep warm. 2 hours in I was getting wet through thin, cheap "waterproof" paints and jacket. About 5 miles/20 mins the rain stopped, sun came out and it got hot quick near 70 degrees (by Belgium standards) as we approached the beautiful town of Ronse, last rest area, before our last two major cobblestone climbs. At the rest stop people were getting rid of clothes like they were on fire. The organizer were ready for it. They had pre-printed signs for pants/leggings, top/jackets. Socks and gloves went in a dumpsters. I ditched a plastic cheap rain pants and two, throw away long sleeve shirts. But looking at the huge piles I could see a lot very expensive gear, thousands dollars worth high end gear and I was in the top 20% of finishers. I can't imagine how big those piles became at the end of day. The next morning it was back in the high 40s.!

Real deal storm just pushed through. Heavy rain. Big gusts and thunder and lightning. Be safe

Yeah, that squall line means business with 1-2" possible in storms (a few could be severe) - just on our doorstep here. Real rollercoaster of temps coming up the next week or so.

Tornado warnings just went of on my phone , eastern Monmouth County

News 12 New Jersey gives very specific info during tornado activity. Down to specific streets. Comcast channel 1127 if you’re interested.

Didn’t really pay attention after I saw it was passing south of me. I have watched during other tornado activity and they will show maps with street names and where the rotation is traveling.

When I posted that I thought the storm was over. It was followed by two more strong downpours, strong winds and lightning events. Besides waking me up nothing bad happened around here. A night storm dropping mulched needed rain is perfect.

6ABC just said this month of March was 1 of just 7 months of March without snow since records began in Philadelphia. 5 of those occured since 2000. For the people who don't believe in global warming occurring, it's time to wake up.

6th warmest March ever in Philly as well.

My son about 10-12 miles north of me texted about it. Never got the warning here in Squan.
My Grandmother lives about a half mile up the road from where News12 was detailing in Monroe last night (bottom half of Spotswood-Englishtown Rd), warning didn't come out till it was right on top of her... Scary stuff for a few minutes last night.

notched another 80 yesterday as highs overperformed...now back to chilly and temps in low to mid 50 tops with stiff wind and perhaps even cooler tomorrow with temps struggling to reach 50. Rollercoaster weather continues and we climb to 70 and above Thursday before crashing down again Friday and Saturday. Perhaps a bounce for Sunday then see sawing all next week from 50s to 60s. It looks like after the weekend of 12/13th we might settle into a more consistent spring temp temperature pattern

after 2 warm days Thursday and Friday back to chilly for this weekend and even bigger chill and raw Monday with highs in mid 40s tops. Cold with some sun at times Tuesday and Wednesday but brutal in the 40s....we get into the 50s by the end of the week but looks like rainstorm coming for Friday into the weekend.

Looks like a brutal week for spring lovers coming up but if we can just get through the next 7 days, the following week looks promising with spring coming back with temps in 60s with sun returning.

I've been thinking about you. Are you and the family all good?
Thanks for asking! Yes, we are fine. We live high on a bluff overlooking the Arkansas river. Great views!
If this storm system comes your way, be prepared for high winds and heavy rains. At least the rain has washed the pollen off the trees and the cars. Unfortunately, those who live closer to creeks and rivers are losing a lot as the waters rise and overwhelm their locations.
Stay safe my friends!

This weather is the worst. As I get older I don’t like to play golf until the weather is in the 50’s. I was too busy last Saturday and canceled this past weekend due to the rain. This weekend looks just as bad. This may be the latest outside of the COVID year for me to get my first round in.

Could be up to 1" of snow in the higher elevations of NEPA/NWNJ and even a couple of inches in the Catskills. No advisories up, since roads will likely only be wet. Nasty day.

This feels like the winter that will never end.

Thank God, we’re leaving for Florida on Saturday, need to get some vitamin D and warm weather in these bones

Really lovin' the sunny 60s and 70s days this week! 😎

Looks like it might even touch 80 by the weekend. 🤘🌞

It was actually a beautiful sunny day today. Yeah it was a little cold, but geez the old ladies complaining on this thread need to adopt the half-full mentality.
