Columbus Paper looks at NJ road trip

That was a pretty nice little piece. I'm sure we can show our visitors from Ohio a good time on gameday.

The visitors that I think had the most fun coming to Rutgers were from Arkansas. I have not seen that type of enthusiasm from any of the BIG teams' visitors yet.

I am sure you would if we scheduled more teams from the South. It's just part of their culture to be so warm and hospitable. The Arky fans we met at the Kids Zone as well as those just a few seats away from us were all so pleasant, even as they rooted for their team. Not obnoxious at all, like some of our B1G brethern (cough cough PSU cough).

I met some Michigan fans last year in restaurants and at the stadium that were so happy to be here. To two of them it had been there first visit to the east coast. Needless to say they had a great time in NYC. But they did enjoy themselves. I for one plan on making Ohio State visitors very welcomed. I was treated great in Columbus. I had to take a cab from High Street at the beginning of the 4th quarter after falling ill, and there were wonderful young people that helped us out. They only cared that we had a good time. Great people Ohioans.

You've clearly never been to Cleveland

Ohio chicks are easy, but they have limited repertoires. In my experience, chicks from Nebraska require a little more effort, but they'll do absolutely anything. They also tend to not be as fat, on average.

I went to Ohio U. LOTS of hot chicks there!!!! And those farm girls.............!!!!!

That was a great review. I've never been into the Cornelius Low House or the Rutgers Gardens, but now they are on my list.

What a surprise! They have real journalists in Ohio? Must be where they go when they can't get jobs in NJ.

As a matter of fact I have for the women's basketball final four in 2007. I will say again the people of Ohio whether in Columbus or Cleveland have been wonderful. Sorry those are my experiences, maybe not yours but they are mine.

I'm impressed that they sent an actual reporter here. When we first joined the B1G, didn't Politi post requests on other team 's boards to learn about the conference? That wasn't surprising, considering that the SL seems to get most of their story ideas from these boards.

It is always amazing how bad Sl writers when compared to all other newspaper reporters.

Nice article.

Not really amazing. In other parts of the country, especially the midwest, and also in Arizona, I notice that newspapers adhere to ethical journalism principles

Do you think any of the SL sports writers are members of the Society of Professional Journalism, which says "Ethical journalism strives to ensure the free exchange of information that is accurate, fair and thorough. An ethical journalist acts with integrity."?
Four principles:
1. Ethical journalism should be accurate and fair.
2. Ethical journalism treats sources, subjects, colleagues and members of the public as human beings deserving of respect.
3. The highest and primary obligation of ethical journalism is to serve the public.
4. Ethical journalism means taking responsibility for one’s work and explaining one’s decisions to the public.

Think of the Tyree story they ran with and did they adhere to any of these principles?

Ha! Yes I forgot about that. His "research" was asking questions to anonymous message board posters! Great journalism!

Wonderful article and great selection of photos. I just emailed the author thanking him for doing such a good job and let him know how much we're enjoying it.

That is not "real journalism." It's a terrific piece telling Ohio Staters what they can do and see on a road trip to Rutgers. Hardly Woodward and Bernstein. It's nice, and makes me feel good as a Rutgers alum. But "journalism?" Come on.

Solid piece for the visiting fans, and I hope they have a fine experience in the area. Ledger, meanwhile, is working on Ohio State previews focusing on the association between Fat sandwiches and arterial blockage and fabricating allegations that Cornelius Low was America's first pimp.
