Wrestling MATCH THREAD: Rutgers vs. Princeton - B1G/Ivy Rivalry

Poz looks like he's getting his mojo back again.
Would have been nice to see him against a legit, ranked opponent and not some bum though. He’s never had a problem against someone of this caliber. It’s been the guys who can push/test him. He didn’t look close to 100% to me.

Poz wins a 15-5 major decision, giving Rutgers a 7-3 lead.

Greg Bulsak now up at 197-lbs to take on Luke Stout

Stout really lives up to his name, he is a big and solid especially for a freshman.

Re:184 - So they don’t send their guy who’s probably healthy and we send our guy who looks like he’s not? Interesting…

Stout out to make it 2 - 1, but Bulsak has accumulated over 1:30 of RT

Period ends on the feet. Bulsak leading 2-1.

Bulsak starting the second period on bottom, and he escapes quickly to make it 3-1 early in the second

Bulsak scrambles to a big takedown late in the second period! Bulsak goes into the third leading 5-1

Stout chooses neutral to start the third

Princeton challenging a Stout takedown attempt. It was pretty close from my angle. I think this is going to be two.

Officials award the takedown to Stout, making it 5-3. Stout chooses to let Bulsak up to make it 6-3

Great match for Bulsak. He really used his strength and experience to fight off some shots and turn them into offense.

Period ends with McDermott on top, as he holds a 2-0 lead.

McDermott chooses defense to start the second

I LOVE the Princeton coaches. Great guys, who are doing a hell of a job. I mean this with absolutely no disrespect, but damn are they annoying as hell in the corner.
Lex I know you have to be PC, but let's be clear about what type of guys we are talking about here. Ayres is a snooty, shit talker, like the rest of his squad. They think we're the younger, dumber brother University of New Jersey. On a positive Bulsak looks like he was taking that match personally. He looked great. It was good that he had that mid-season crackdown. Now he's back on his horse

How did Poz look to you?

Period ends with no other action, as McDermott maintains a 3-0 lead.

Cover going on bottom to begin the third period

Cover with the reversal to make it 3-2, in favor of McDermott. Cover cuts McDermot to make it 4-2 with about a minute left in the match

Regulation ends with Cover on top and the score still tied at four.

Sudden victory overtime we go

Boone gets so lazy during these matches… he needs to keep on wrestling.

All I can do is go by my experiences with them. They have always been very solid guys in my interactions with them. But do not get me wrong, they whine like hell in the corner, and get very annoying.

Starting anywhere besides 125 is pointless and just throws off everyone’s rhythm. It’s not like high school where the starting point can effect bumping up guys.

How did Poz look to you?
I think Poz looked better. But definitely did look not as strong as I've seen him. Physically he doesn't look as jacked as he has in the past. He might very well have been suffering from an injury. The kid he wrestled was a Princeton meatloaf. If he beat Stefanik that way, then I would say he's back on his game. Boone better start doing some soul searching, if he wants to continue wrestling. That kid was some curlicued six and five wrestler in the eiwa. I know he likes to amp up the crowd, but that was a less than inspiring performance. Looks way out of shape at this point of the season, very weak and tentative. He runs into a Cassiopi, or Kerklievet in the first round, wrestling like that,he's going to get his ass handed to him... Plain and simple.
