OT: Moderate to Significant Snow (and some rain SE of 95) for Sunday, 1/19.

The pink blob of predicted heavy snow for this afternoon should be heading our way (much of NJ) by late afternoon. Snow finally picking up here and lots of reports of an inch or two for the suburbs NW of Philly and parts of NWNJ as they've been under a good band; temps have fallen below 32F in those locations. Once that happens and we have decent snowfall rates, we'll see accumulations. Temp down to 36F and it's 34-35F not far west of us, so it's dropping with the cooling from heavier precip (evaporation saturating the column).

Changed over to sleet/graupel mix just south of Flemington. Very tough to get a pure snowstorm in our climate nowadays. Didn’t have this on my bingo card.

Thanks, yeah I can see your area down towards Mercer all around 32F, presumably with decent snowfall rates as per the radar...we're down to 35F, but only light snow
meh the rates arent all that good and while it sticking to sidewalks, the treated lot is still wet

likely going to lose about .5 inches in snow off what the models said, maybe some more maybe some less in other spots

i think you are just in some lighter returns, dont worry its coming
A friend in Belle Mead is hosting a small party to watch the Iggles playoff game. I have zero interest in the actual game but was looking forward to hanging out for a few hrs. Should I take a chance driving from the Basking Ridge area? I'm leaning no...

oh you are fine getting there..its getting back where you would driving home at height of the storm...7pm

bring your sleeping bag and make it an all day event for tomorrows glorious return of america

As of 2:30 pm, we have a dusting on colder surfaces (a bit on some paved surfaces), as we missed most of that last band the west of us - looks like it hit P'way nicely. Snowing lightly and down to 34F.

A friend in Basking Ridge said he has about 1" - looked like you guys were under a good band and still are - could be dicey.

Was hoping for a snow globe for start of Eagles game. Not happening now my buddy says kinda rainy. Maybe later

Radar isn't showing much for my area Hamilton till around 5ish. I don't think we get much, 2" is what I'm thinking. Looking like another over hyped event.

Had very fine snow for a bit then moderate. Now its back to fine. Must have been under a band in Flemington. About 1 inch on sidewalks. They snowplowed the complex lot and guys are shoveling at 2:30

Well, we've gotten lucky for a bunch of storms the past year (got 24.6" last year when most got 15" or less in the region - we got that 11" surprise and overperformed on a few others), so maybe our luck is running out, at least for the start of this storm, as there's been a moderate band just west of Metuchen for about an hour that just keeps sliding from SW to NE just to our NW. Oh well, although we were forecast to only have maybe 1/4-1/2" by 3 pm, but it better pick up soon if we want to get to at least 4", the bottom of my expected range. But the next 30 min doesn't look great on radar. Hard to be patient when you want to see snow, lol.

This has bust all over it. So stupid that things got cancelled yesterday. Radar showing nothing
until 5:30 and over and out by 9:25 in Mercer. Weather channel calling for an inch. I was going to gas up the snowblower but I think I’ll wait for the next storm.

In East Brunswick hardly any rain and no snow at 3:15 pm.The next five hours will tell the story .

Given the lack of snow, so far for anyone along/SE of 95 from Philly to Woodbridge (they're getting some snow NE of us though) and the likelihood of us not getting much until at least 4 pm, looking at the radar, I would think the NWS will trim back snowfall forecasts for 95 and a bit SE of 95 maybe by 1/2-1". Radar looks to be filling in nicely SW of Philly, which should make it up here by 4:00-4:30, but if we're going to get more than 3-4", we're going to need the bands after 4:30 to perform well.

im always the first to call bust but the heavy part of the storm was never supposed to be until 4-8 pm and then quickly out. For the storm to verify its going to have to rely on near inch an hour rates during that time but race against time

never bought into the absurd 5-8 inch amounts for my area...what model was even showing that...the gfs? and even they backed off thats all...we werent getting high ratios in central jersey because it simply wasnt going to be cold enough, much of the early snow wasnt going to stick

the downplaying of the less snowier models was odd to me.

this may be a bust but its still a little early.... i would say down 14-3 at halftime...at 5 o clock i will give the end of 3rd quarter score

absurd that dan zarrow had me and part of central jersey in the 5-8 band, ditto for epa weather with the 6-9...this is a fast mover with little dynamics
