Everyone is pissed at the Mets but the Rangers are having an amazing week, eh?
Well, I've never had Rangers fans crying to me about all of the money the Yankees were spending on free agents over the years.... how bad it was for baseball. I've heard that from lots of Mets fans.
Want some cheese with that whine?Well, I've never had Rangers fans crying to me about all of the money the Yankees were spending on free agents over the years.... how bad it was for baseball. I've heard that from lots of Mets fans.
Suddenly it's a great move for a franchise to make to spend like a drunken sailor.
Mr. Met is a hypocrite.
Gsellman non-tendered. He's now a FA.Tomorrow is a big day for two reasons.
1) Deadline for extending tender offers to arbitration eligibles. Mets have 14 such players, it was 16 but they'd already cut a couple loose. I assume the remaining 14 will all be tendered, but we'll see. At any rate, the free agent market will certainly expand somewhat.
2) Expiration of current CBA. Sides are still talking but no one is optimistic. Assuming no deal gets done, tomorrow is therefore the de facto deadline for just about everything.
No worries, it's not just you, Yankee fans are crying all over talk radio, love it.Well, I've never had Rangers fans crying to me about all of the money the Yankees were spending on free agents over the years.... how bad it was for baseball. I've heard that from lots of Mets fans.

That's an interesting use of the word "crying" right there. No worries, it's not just you, Yankee fans are crying all over talk radio, love it.
That’s a lot of living!Per your first link: "but the star shortstop is headed back to the midwest after agreeing to a six-year, $140 million contract with the Detroit Tigers,"
So he settled for Detroit and $35 million apart? Or was the $35 million a cost of living adjustment for Queens?
Too damn funny- let me ask, do you live in Texas? Because, if you don't, you don't know many Ranger fans.Well, I've never had Rangers fans crying to me about all of the money the Yankees were spending on free agents over the years.... how bad it was for baseball. Hey, I see you never got an answer from my shadow., lol. You looked and didn't find a post by me, just another one of his Chris Cuomo moments.PS. I also just saw that dumping Sanchez to a team in the "weaker" league would be a win. Weaker league? The one that's won the last 3 World Series? As always , a pretty entertaining thread to read.Too damn funny- let me ask, do you live in Texas? Because, if you don't, you don't know many Ranger fans.
Now, let's clarify, Met fans didn't cry that Yankee's were ruining baseball with their spending, we were crying that our ownership either didn't spent it right or after Madolf, didn't spend it at all. We cried that our NY market team became the Pirates. Prior to Bernie- we were usually toward the top of spending...
Yankee fans right now are similar- they are not looking to stop Cohen but they want Hl to keep up with him.
The other one, WB was posting in the Yankee thread the other day that you were in this thread bust his balls about the Yankees on a day we signed Mad Max. I called him out on it...I really think a few of these guys have really lost their freaking minds.Hey, I see you never got an answer from the d-bag, lol. PS. I also just saw that dumping Sanchez to a team in the "weaker" league would be a win. Weaker league? The one that's won the last 3 World Series?
I would never live in Texas. I subscribe to the old saying (can't recall who said it) "If I owned Texas and hell I'd rent out Texas and live in hell."Too damn funny- let me ask, do you live in Texas? Because, if you don't, you don't know many Ranger fans.

Can’t recall a pitcher looking so different over a course of an inning. Strike out the first two with wicked pitches. Walk the next three…etc
I’d still bet it is a very random fan in this area that is a Ranger fan…just saying.I would never live in Texas. I subscribe to the old saying (can't recall who said it) "If I owned Texas and hell I'd rent out Texas and live in hell."
Also, you'd be surprised, I guess, at how many fans of teams from all over the country I've met right here in the Metropolitan area. If one is turned off by the Yankees and the only other choice is the Mets I sorta understand.
Is the trumpets guy/closer back? Diaz? Can’t recall a pitcher looking so different over a course of an inning. Strike out the first two with wicked pitches. Walk the next three…etc
Max Scherzer is a freak of nature. His eyes are two different colors! One green, one brown.

Thanks. Will need depth signings all over diamond. SP. RP. OF. I’d expect to see signings like Kikiuchi; Chafin ; Hand ; Villar / Pillar types. I also expect trade discussions to occur with guys such as Dom Smith /McNeil and JD Davis being offered. Maybe Matt Chapman / Sean Maneaa will be available though prospects would have to be rendered I’m sure.SO... assuming that the Mets are done making moves (which they most assuredly are not), here's a way too early look at the 2022 opening day roster.
STARTING PITCHERS (5)
de Grom
Scherzer
Carrasco
Walker
Peterson OR Megill
RELIEF PITCHERS (8)
E. Diaz
Lugo
May
Castro
Drew Smith
Williams
Reid-Foley
Y. Diaz OR Reed
STARTING LINEUP (9 - assuming DH)
Nimmo - LF
Lindor - SS
Marte - CF
Alonso - DH
Dom Smith - 1B
Escobar - 3B
Canha - RF
McNeil - 2B
McCann - C
BENCH (4)
Davis
Nido
Guillorme
Cano??? Otherwise Lee OR Plummer OR Blankenhorn
Let's assess this roster...
STRENGTHS:
NEEDS:
- Top of the rotation! (Duh)
- Upgraded outfield defense and athleticism with Marte
- Lineup is strong 1-8 (maybe not 9) IF McNeil and Smith return to form.
COMMENTS:
- BULLPEN!!! Need at least two. Preferably both lefties. Must replace Loup!
- Another mid-rotation starter. I'll settle for back of rotation.
- Another bench bat.
- I am confident that the above needs will be addressed either through free agency or trade.
- It is depressing not to be able to discuss the upcoming young talent ready to make major contributions. We must wait a year or two on that.
Reportedly 3 years, $71M, with an opt out after year 2.Stroman to Cubs
I think I swap Marte and Nimmo in the batting order. I just can’t have my 40+ base stealer in front of Alonso. Rather have Marte lead off and Nimmo or Lindor batting 3rd. Thinking Nimmo better batting 2nd as he could take a pitch or two to allow Marte a chance to steal a base.SO... assuming that the Mets are done making moves (which they most assuredly are not), here's a way too early look at the 2022 opening day roster.

That is the dream and question, 30 starts each, and driving each other and inspiring the entire team to compete at the highest level. My big concern is those backbreaking blown saves that our buddy Diaz always manages at the worst times, not that there's a good time, just when the team is on a roll, or needs the big win, he blows it!One of the keys to the season is to see if Carasco came come back to pre 2021 form. It would seam that it would help to be following deGrom and Max as teams will be in slums when they get to our number 3.
one of the really exciting things…if Jake and Max stay healthy, they most likely throw 50+ dominant games. Not quality but dominant
Will be fun to watch- also think these two guys will push each other as well.
I'd like to see another power bat in there someplace. Like a 25 and 90 guy. Sure there are guys who could become that. Hell Dom looked like that in 2020. But now not sure.SO... assuming that the Mets are done making moves (which they most assuredly are not), here's a way too early look at the 2022 opening day roster.

K Bryant would be the perfect fit with no draft pick associated with him. There are a few others but I believe the Met's do not want to give up that pick this year as they are in a unique situation where the pick they have to give up is a high 1st round guy, not a 2nd or 3rd round guy like most years would beI'd like to see another power bat in there someplace.
