He is a slam dunk hire and that don't mean he's a sure thing to turning the Mets into champs, but he's exactly what they need at this present time, not another maybe hotshot who has never dealt with anything like the NYC sports environment.

One factor people discount too much when it comes to coaches is that they are capable of evolving and learning more and get better as the years past by, players do as well but once they're bodies give out to age, that's it, they're done.
Managing is all about the brain, temperament and leadership, and some do get better as they get older. Casey Stengel was a disaster in his first two MLB stints, so much so that he had to go manager in the PCL before getting another shot with the Yanks.
