Yes, the moves look good, and we have Soto toSo far- I do have to say that it looks like Cashman is making some good/smart moves this year that aren't breaking the bank.
Adding Fried as the Big $$$ guy is a pretty safe bet and putting him with Cole and the others- it has to be one of the best rotations in MLB.
Picked up a dominate closer even if he had a bad off-season and this kid Cruz from the Reds has dynamic stuff that misses bats.
Bellinger - who knows what type of season he will have but his upside is a no brainer. I think he actually has a year similar to 2023 but with a few more HR with the right field porch. And even Goldschmidt if 34 HR 97 runs and rbi .260 could be matched again- then that is also a HR at 12.5
Cashman gets my pageant clap for what he has done so far.
i agree.I would add that I think Wells' stats should show a significant boost from 2024.
Also have to start giving Cashman some credit- when the Soto trade happened - it looked on paper that it may have been a disaster if he had a down year and/or the Yanks did not resign him long term. King had a wonderful year as did Higgy.Yes, the moves look good, and we have Soto to
thank.
King I filed under "you've gotta give up something good to get something good".Also have to start giving Cashman some credit- when the Soto trade happened - it looked on paper that it may have been a disaster if he had a down year and/or the Yanks did not resign him long term. 1) Soto had a great year and good chance that without him, Yankees do not make the playoffs. - which is good because Grisham really did nothing
2) Didn't resign him long term...again, this could have been really bad to give away King/Higgy for a one year rental. But, Cash pivoted and had what may be his best off season ever.
I don't disagree...and Soto was most likely the difference that got the Yankees into the playoffs and I am not sure if King and Higashioka would have done so- between playoffs and a ton of merch sales- it most likely paid for this off season as well.King I filed under "you've gotta give up something good to get something good".
Higashioka...it was time to move on...needed to make some room for Wells.
Cashman has always been a very good GM. Prior to this season, I think the stagnancy in the Yankees franchise meant a change needed to be made. The years of relying on injury prone players, home runs and inability to develop starting pitchers, was starting to wear on everyone. Cash has definitely earned some slack for having a strong offseason at this point, however.I don't disagree...and Soto was most likely the difference that got the Yankees into the playoffs and I am not sure if King and Higashioka would have done so- between playoffs and a ton of merch sales- it most likely paid for this off season as well.
Cashman may have just had the type of off seasons he needed to have to show his worth. He has done a great job through it.
Better off just waiting to see who becomes available during the season and at trade deadlineI think the Yankees are done looking for a 3rd baseman. Most insiders are saying that the Yankees are no longer after Bregman or Arenado. Bregman is asking for too much plus Yankees would lose 2 draft picks and $1 million in international bonus pool money. There isn't a lot left available for 3rd baseman.
Sounds like the Torres error is finally over for the Yanks. Reports that he signed with Detroit.Better off just waiting to see who becomes available during the season and at trade deadline
Cashman was a good GM until he got seduced by garbage analytics. Now he sucks especially with the minor leagues and player development.Cashman has always been a very good GM. You already lost the $1 million for signing Fried along with the 2nd and 5th round picks. You wouldn't lose another $1 million of IFA money but you would then also lose 3rd and 6th rounders.I think the Yankees are done looking for a 3rd baseman. Not sure about that. As of now, the Yanks don't have a viable 3B option on the team.I think the Yankees are done looking for a 3rd baseman. 3rd base sound like a crapathon right now. Need someone new if the Yanks want to be a serious WS contender in 2025.Jorbit Vivas or maybe DJ.
Vivas can play 3rd or 2nd base. The Yanks called him up for a bit near the end of last season but never put him in a game.
Perhaps DJ can return to his old form. I seriously doubt it though.
Or maybe they'll swing a deal yet.
Like who?3rd base sound like a crapathon right now. Need someone new if the Yanks want to be a serious WS contender in 2025.
Arenado. F those picks. Cashman sucks at drafting anyway.Like who?
Arenado. F those picks. Cashman sucks at drafting anyway.
Okay. Bregman then. F those picks! :)Arenado isn't a free agent. St. Louis passed on a few trade proposals from the Yankees. One included Stroman. Also Arenado has only 6 teams exceptions to his no trade clause. Yankees aren't one of them.
Please no DJ.Jorbit Vivas or maybe DJ.

Kim doesn't sound very different than Peraza.San Diego free agent SS Ha-Seong Kim is being mentioned. He can play multiple infield positions. A very good fielder and base stealer. Not much in the OPS or AVG department. He got hurt in August and only played 121 games. Previously played in 150 and 152 games.
The other option is to go with Peraza or Cabrera with Chisolm and to cover second and third base. Then see what happens by the July trade deadline.

Sounds like our choices are meh or meh.Kim doesn't sound very different than Peraza.
BTW, I recently saw a ranking of minor league systems that had the Yankees ranked #29. Apparently there's not much trade material down there.
I see the Mets are also interested in Bregman. If the Mets outbid the Yankees again will you start calling Bregman, Bloated Bregman, along with Fat Pete? 😁Okay. Bregman then. F those picks! :)
The only player as fat as Fat Pete looks to be Soto the Hut. Wow, what a fat lazy SOB at the press conference. He couldn't stay in shape for a few more weeks? LOL.I see the Mets are also interested in Bregman. If the Mets outbid the Yankees again will you start calling Bregman, Bloated Bregman, along with Fat Pete? 😁
Ok you finally got me to crack. Soto the Hutt! The only player as fat as Fat Pete looks to be Soto the Hut. Wow, what a fat lazy SOB at the press conference. He couldn't stay in shape for a few more weeks? LOL.
I should get AI to create a photo that goes with the name. :)Ok you finally got me to crack. Soto the Hutt!
Playoffs say that they don't care how fat or in shape you are...look at your fat boys vs the guy in the best shape in MLBThe only player as fat as Fat Pete looks to be Soto the Hut. Wow, what a fat lazy SOB at the press conference. He couldn't stay in shape for a few more weeks? LOL.
Go back to the JV thread.....troll.Playoffs say that they don't care how fat or in shape you are...look at your fat boys vs the guy in the best shape in MLB
High batting average and low strikeouts? Can’t have that on the Cashman Yanks!Yankees ‘not seen as a fit’ for three-time batting champ
Yankees appear to be out on lifetime .323 hitterwww.nj.com
poor fielder and not much of a base runner either. So- those things weigh him down quite a bit. Doesn't steal bases, doesnt score runs, doesnt hit rbis and doesnt walk...High batting average and low strikeouts? Can’t have that on the Cashman Yanks!
How do you even know??Let’s get something straight = the Yankees did NOT gain more fans as a result of this WS. So if they didn’t gain fans…then that means they either stayed the same or lost fans. Just a FYI - that’s usually not a good thing if you are running a team/business. If the Yankees came back to win this series in epic fashion I’d be willing to bet their value would have increased in next couple years to overtake the Cowboys.
Little known? He was a 3rd round draft pick and is considered one of their top 20 prospects. They moved him quick last year going from A to High A to AAA in short amount of time. Also Oak has been spending money this off-season to more palatable levels just giving out their player a decent extension yesterday in Rooker. They'd laugh off the phone, they need cheap cost controlled possibly superstars more than cash. The Yankees should make an out of the blue offer to the Oakland A’s for a little known minor leaguer from Rutgers named Josh Kuroda Grauer.
Make him the 2nd baseman and don’t touch him for 250 at bats.
The A’s need money, give them all the cash they want for him.
That kid is gonna be special, “and he don’t get hurt either” a guy I used to know liked to say
