Yes, the moves look good, and we have Soto toSo far- I do have to say that it looks like Cashman is making some good/smart moves this year that aren't breaking the bank.
Adding Fried as the Big $$$ guy is a pretty safe bet and putting him with Cole and the others- it has to be one of the best rotations in MLB.
Picked up a dominate closer even if he had a bad off-season and this kid Cruz from the Reds has dynamic stuff that misses bats.
Bellinger - who knows what type of season he will have but his upside is a no brainer. I think he actually has a year similar to 2023 but with a few more HR with the right field porch. And even Goldschmidt if 34 HR 97 runs and rbi .260 could be matched again- then that is also a HR at 12.5
Cashman gets my pageant clap for what he has done so far.
i agree.I would add that I think Wells' stats should show a significant boost from 2024.
Also have to start giving Cashman some credit- when the Soto trade happened - it looked on paper that it may have been a disaster if he had a down year and/or the Yanks did not resign him long term. King had a wonderful year as did Higgy.Yes, the moves look good, and we have Soto to
thank.
King I filed under "you've gotta give up something good to get something good".Also have to start giving Cashman some credit- when the Soto trade happened - it looked on paper that it may have been a disaster if he had a down year and/or the Yanks did not resign him long term. 1) Soto had a great year and good chance that without him, Yankees do not make the playoffs. - which is good because Grisham really did nothing
2) Didn't resign him long term...again, this could have been really bad to give away King/Higgy for a one year rental. But, Cash pivoted and had what may be his best off season ever.
I don't disagree...and Soto was most likely the difference that got the Yankees into the playoffs and I am not sure if King and Higashioka would have done so- between playoffs and a ton of merch sales- it most likely paid for this off season as well.King I filed under "you've gotta give up something good to get something good".
Higashioka...it was time to move on...needed to make some room for Wells.
Cashman has always been a very good GM. Prior to this season, I think the stagnancy in the Yankees franchise meant a change needed to be made. The years of relying on injury prone players, home runs and inability to develop starting pitchers, was starting to wear on everyone. Cash has definitely earned some slack for having a strong offseason at this point, however.I don't disagree...and Soto was most likely the difference that got the Yankees into the playoffs and I am not sure if King and Higashioka would have done so- between playoffs and a ton of merch sales- it most likely paid for this off season as well.
Cashman may have just had the type of off seasons he needed to have to show his worth. He has done a great job through it.
Better off just waiting to see who becomes available during the season and at trade deadlineI think the Yankees are done looking for a 3rd baseman. Most insiders are saying that the Yankees are no longer after Bregman or Arenado. Bregman is asking for too much plus Yankees would lose 2 draft picks and $1 million in international bonus pool money. There isn't a lot left available for 3rd baseman.
Sounds like the Torres error is finally over for the Yanks. Reports that he signed with Detroit.Better off just waiting to see who becomes available during the season and at trade deadline
Cashman was a good GM until he got seduced by garbage analytics. Now he sucks especially with the minor leagues and player development.Cashman has always been a very good GM. You already lost the $1 million for signing Fried along with the 2nd and 5th round picks. You wouldn't lose another $1 million of IFA money but you would then also lose 3rd and 6th rounders.I think the Yankees are done looking for a 3rd baseman. Not sure about that. As of now, the Yanks don't have a viable 3B option on the team.I think the Yankees are done looking for a 3rd baseman.
