OT: "Surprise" Cat 5 (165 mph winds) Hurricane Hit Acapulco Early This Morning

Oh.. did US government workers build them?

Man, your are really bending over backwards to make a point about socialism that actually shows you the benefits of capitalism to government purchases.

Government's great achievements are largely due to capitalism.

Now its time for someone to chime in with "unbridled capitalism".. as if that exists anywhere.
You're the one bending over backwards to try to make a point. He didn't say anything about socialism, per se - he was simply saying that there is a place for government funded R&D within a largely capitalist society like ours and the payoffs for that gov't work usually benefit the oublic and private sectors. Without gov't efforts (which includes the military), we don't have all kinds of technological breakthroughs, from the internet to satellite technology to weather models to countless other things.

He replied to ME, not you. You only saw his statement and my reply. Your claim that he said nothing about socialism is BS because you have no idea what I said that caused him to reply as he did and I spoke about socialism by complimenting someone on a process created by a corporation in a capitalist nation that serves the public well. I mentioned the "invisible hand". He countered that argument.

And what are "government efforts".. they are things private companies and corporations can do FOR them. Hell, the military stopped most of its non-warfare work in favor of hiring contractors for all the support work. Hell, they hire contractors for warfare work as well. You still think government "scientists" did a bang-up job with CoVid.

Furthermore, for a guy from Big Pharma who has defended their sucking off the government teat.. for you to disagree with my statement is just mind-numbingly stupid especially when you are complaining about someone bending over backwards to make an argument. Do you really want the government to decide everything that Big Pharma works on and how they do it?

The example of this roofing materials company watching weather to manage their supply chain so they can provide materials needed to recover from severe weather events in a timely fashion (and to insure the health of their company) IS a perfect example of the invisible hand of capitalism being far more efficient at such things than government control.. as in SOCIALISM.. could provide. And my proof of that is the record and GDP of every socialist economy in the history of the world.

This new brand of E-commie-nee in China that steals from capitalist economies and sells into the capitalists' economies in a predatory fashion and replies on capitalists in their own nation while siphoning off profits for the party members... that's new. There are Chinese companies doing real innovation now.. but it is all funded by buyers in capitalist economies.
