BAC'S NCAA Bubble Analysis and Pecking Order: 3/6/17

URI passing the eye test right now up 40-27. I think the committee has already decided to put them in as an 11 seed. Cuse has FIVE plus 100 losses....they are 2-10 at home, before the weekend, I was in defense of them but no longer....18-14 all their big 6 top 50 wins were at home. Yes big wins but so many losses, should not reward mediocrity, if you stripped the name Syracuse off and it was Georgia Tech they wouldnt make it, politics could put them in.

Worst rpi to be selected as an at large was New Mexico at 74, Cuse was 2nd worst last year at 72. This year Cuse is at 84!

Here's an interesting wrinkle with Rhode Island -
I think they are in regardless of how this game ends up.
But, with a loss they are surely headed for Dayton Tues/Wed. With a win, one of the other at large teams "in" the main field would be pushed to the First Four.

1. Marquette
2. Vanderbilt
3. USC
4. Wake Forest
5. Providence
6. Kansas State
7. Syracuse

to me its these 7 schools battlling for 6 spots

I think the seeding should go like this :
East. South. Midwest. West
1) Villanova. 1) UNC 1) Kansas 1)Arizona
2) Duke 2) Kentucky. 2) Oregon 2)Gonzaga
3) SMU/Cincy. 3) UCLA 3) Louisville. 3) Iowa State
4) WVU. 4)Baylor. 4) Cincy/SMU 4) Notre Dame
5)Florida State. 5) Purdue. 5) Wisconsin. 5) Butler
6) Virginia. 6)Florida. 6) Creighton. 6) St. Mary's
7)Maryland. 7) Michigan. 7) Minnesota 7)Dayton
8) Seton Hall. 8) Miami. 8) Wichita State. 8) Arkansas
9) Va Tech 9) Northwestern. 9) Oklahoma State. 9) VCU
10) Nevada. 10) Vanderbilt. 10) Michigan State. 10) South Carolina
11) Wake Forest. 11)Middle Tennessee. 11)Rhode Island. 11) Marquette
12)Prov/ Kansas State. 12)USC/Xavier. 12)New Mexico State 12)New Orleans

I am not convinced that VCU should be all that comfortable.

not a great profile but should be okay

rpi of 18...not school has ever been left out with a rpi like that. Princeton, Middle Tennessee and Dayton...solid wins, nothing spectacular 9-6 vs top 100... got to the final of A10....they seem to be a cut above some of those bloated power conference schools

I have posted mine...cannot argue too much...just some seeding differentials. We have the same teams in the field. I think the only one up in the air is Cuse so lets see how the committee goes.

I see there is a push for Duke as a one seed, I do not like that. I have Zags a #1 over AZ but could go either way

I do not think Duke goes from 4 pre tourney to a 1. Committee will probably put Gonzaga as a 1 but I think One of those PAC 12 teams either Arizona / Oregon deserves it over them and since Arizona won tourney I would give it to a them. They might argue Gonzaga beat them head to head but that was without Trier who missed the first 19 games. They are a different and really dangerous team as is Oregon.

Oregon's best big done for year so that will affect decision.

I think the Duke talk to a 1 seed is everything that's wrong with the college game.

Great team----fully capable of winning the whole thing------but they finished 5th in the regular season conference standings-----lost 3 of their last 4----had an awful home loss to NC State who was terrible.

So the regular season means zero ? Fine don't cover it and don't put 120 hoop games on a week.

Should be no higher than a 3 seed IMO.

fully agree....usually the committee says that conference tourneys are not the end all be all....so why would Duke supplant UNC...just does not make sense, you cannot be 5th in your conference tourney and then labeled one of the top 4 schools in the country...that is absurd...and its only because its Duke..there is no question that certain programs are protected in this country....Duke, UNC, Syracuse, Kansas, Kentucky are the main culprits
