OT: ACC might want to settle instead of going to court

Yeah, but for the lawsuit, the other schools are not joining it. It is FSU versus the ACC. Therefore, I don’t see how a certain number of those could be required or needed as they are suing the league to get out eventually.
The point is, there is no "league". It is just a collection of 18 schools. By suing the "league" you are suing all 18 schools, or maybe just the ones in the conference when the GOR was signed.

The lawsuit as I’ve read it says fsu vs Acc
My understanding is, it’s suing the league, not the individual schools

OK I admit it. It is time for me to shut up.

Never thought I would see the day when there are more Syracuse and FSU fans on these boards than Rutgers fans.
I’d love to talk more Rutgers football, but every time I bring up any of the following, the usual suspects start freaking out

QB play
Offensive philosophy
Potential of program
NIL

Sure makes for a lively discussion then, doesn’t it?

Wait… you don’t think USC brings anything $$$ wise?

Tell me you didn’t just say that
Yes USC brings money. The problem is the others don't. The current Big Ten teams will supplement paying for the teams that don't come close to $75 million. They had to bring low income schools on the Wast Coast. Look up how little the PAC12 made in the last contract. There is a reason.

You talk a lot of crap. You aren't a full time Rutgers fan. A side team to you. FSU is your favorite so just admit it. Please get back to me when you hit 38 years. You have a long way to go. Funny you want to FSU to get in the Big Ten.
Impressive posts?? I've been on here a long time. You are a rookie here and secondary fake RU fan. You ever watch the sun rise over Rutgers Stadium? Have you ever seen deer walk through the the Yellow Lot and past the Blue Lot at 4am? You ever play football in college? You are just a southern guy full of hot air. Probably a fan of Paul Finebaum.
I’m Jersey through and through, although Team Smooth will be retiring in the Sunshine State in the not so distant future

My philosophy is simple.
If you act like an asshole, expect to get treated like an asshole in return.
Thats as Jersey as it gets

You need to slow down and read, I’ve already said FSU is my favorite team and Rutgers the second multiple times - not trying to hide that fact

I’ve slept over twice - once for Ville in 06 and USF in 07.

Not really my thing TBH - I prefer sleeping in my own bed, having coffee, taking a warm shower and getting to the lots 4-5 hours before kickoff

You consistently spout off, then act all high & mighty when someone comes back at you.

You once even tagged Spank when I had the audacity to question him about NIL. Talk about a bitch move, even for you I was surprised

It’s very simple Bus. Keep coming at me, and I’ll respond back accordingly.

Act normal, and debate / talk sports like men do, and we’ll have no issues

So you still talk shit about me since I go to a family event. You should act normal but you don't. You're a liar that I asked any moderator to protect me. You need to act normal and be honest. The honest part is your downfall. You think you a great Rutgers fan but only defend FSU. You consistently support FSU and your calling out a die as a hard Rutgers fan. It's very simple you talk shit but when a real Rutgers fan calls you out you become a dick. Call me when you get to many non FSU games as I have been rookie

That’s a long winded rant, most of which is typical delusion from the short one

I’ll give you a break tonight as id like to watch some Hall - Johnnie’s and Rauck Chalk - Pokes

Just know moving forward, we can either drop this or continue on.

Its up to you - and largely dependent on your demeanor, and decorum

Dude you are a clown. Up to me? You post nonsense then complain about smart people explaining you're wrong. Long winded??? You post more then 200+ about that FSU going to the BIG Ten.
You are like #s and @Knight Shift who promised to meet me and then pussyed out.

@JayDogSmooth keep the info coming. For those that are ignorant of the movement FSU has made academically over the past 25 years, well there just ignorant. FSU, like Rutgers is clearly a middle of the pack B1G school. The biggest thing FSU lacks is total research dollars but if they get into the B1G I assume they would get the research boost Rutgers got by joining. Again, that would boost their academic rankings like Rutgers have been boosted by entering the B1G.

I talked to my Clemson buddy the other day. He was recently at a fraternity brothers funeral and ran into his board member buddy. Didn’t get much info other than this will be over shortly.

B1G adding FSU is a no brainer. If there is one thing B1G fans love, it’s their bowl trips to Florida or retiring to Florida.

Thanks brother, admittedly, back in the day they were not exactly an academic powerhouse.

Over the past 20 years, though, there’s really been a shift towards academic priorities, and especially Once the thrasher became president

The research dollars will eventually come as well, AAU, and stuff to expand there because it’s the smallest campus square footage wise in the state for public universities

They are always battling UF for state dollars and designations, those politics rep, but they are slowly, but surely closing the gap

In regard to athletics, and specifically football, it would be a no-brainer to be in the big and preferred amongst most than the SEC

Anyone wondering why they’re doing all this public bluster, which, admittedly, I’m not a fan of, as for show in the matrix to sway public opinion, and eventually get them out of the ACC

Staying in there is not realistic if they hope to compete at an elite level moving forward

I'm not saying Florida State University is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and the B1G will of course be fine with or without them. But based on my experience as an ACC fan, the school and fans do not come off as arrogant or entitled at all. I realize that their current posture might make it seem otherwise.

I always felt like they are the "Michigan State" / "NC State" / " Purdue" (etc.) of Florida -- not the "glamour" school, but solid and grounded -- and that gives them some humility. I know it's because of my personality, but I kind of like that.

They're not Texas or Michigan or North Carolina (I have nothing against these schools either, but they are among the poster children for what some are referring to above)...

FSUs timing like Maryland’s might be impeccable. The revelation that the ACCs contract with ESPN only lasts till ‘27 May mean that FSU may only owe damages from ‘25-‘27, assuming a ‘25 Exit, which is a lot better than owing damages from ‘25 to ‘36.

That’s pretty accurate, especially in state, where the gators have a more elite posture to them, where is the Knowles are more of the everyman school

And the fact that this was signed without a formal vote by school Presidents is pretty telling of what kind of shitty, shady & sketchy league the ACC is

Hopefully B1G doesn't take Florida State Correctional Facility. Don't need a community college. Perfect for B12.

middle of the pack? brother, you need to check your data as we're sitting #5 and will move to 8 with the new additions. That's better than 'middle of the pack'

love the UF sign welcoming the UF rejects at games etc. love it

I did check my math and you are correct. 8/18 is in fact better than the middle. Thanks for the math lesson.

Ahh I did not know that, great news for RU!
apparently our own fans have no idea despite me posting it several times. lol

kill the rolling admissions and you'll see that go higher

that said, I suggest everyone read the thread you started on big additions. I think everything is laid out nicely there

5/14 and 8/18 which is fantastic and especially when you consider that 2 of the new additions are truly destination schools of academic prowess. Also, Udub is an excellent school

I've said this before and I'll say it again, if expansion was starting today, Nebraska doesn't make the cut as academics matter. Oregon at least brings in a huge war chest, national eyeballs and is ranked higher than nebraska

That is their only legitimate claim, assuming the schools didn't grant the ACC commissioner some authority to sign that extension without a formal vote, and I mentioned as much when that detail came out. The FL court may not even rule on the merits of the GORs and instead may just rule that FSU is bound by the GORs and exit fee through 6/30/27 and invalidate the extension. FSU will then decide whether they want to pay $240M to get out by 7/1/24 or $200M to get out by 7/1/25. Those calculations are based on TV revenue payouts of ~$40M/yr/school, so $120M for 3 yrs GORs or $80M for 2 yrs GORs, plus the $120M exit fee (3x its annual TV payout).

I’m hearing significantly less, but time will tell
Ultimately, getting out in 1-2 years still looks like the plan

Any chance we do away w rolling admissions?

For those RU Insiders or who those who hear worthwhile gossip.......

If in fact FSU gets out of GOR.... And FSU and BIG10 come to an agreement
  • Would they come as a sole 19th team and see how subsequent schools become available
  • If UNC makes a mistaken and goes to the SEC....... Is anyone hearing UVA or Miami as a 20th. Seems like Clemson or Georgia Tech are not on our radar.
  • Is anyone actually hearing that the BIG would want more than 2 schools without ND. Really wouldn't want to go to 22 without ND let alone 24.

It doesn't seem that any of the other schools will start their litigation until there is clarity with the FSU lawsuits.

Almost all B1G schools in the top 100. Florida State community college is 295
Try and be more informed.
Yep
Solid list

Oregon State & Colorado State are powerhouses
Cincinnati & Kansas - Ivy

All above FSU - yep, totally reputable

I’ll give you 3/10 for persistence and college nicknames, and 1/10 for board names as yours might be the only one I’ve seen more corny than mine

agree, bad list

the only 2 that matters are us news and forbes

It’s crazy, for a minute I thought this was a college football board!
every academic argument is out the window with nebraska and oregon. I'm telling you right now, if we expanded today and nebraska was on the board, they'd get left out. timing matters
