OT: Minor to Moderate Snow Possible on Monday, 1/6 (uncertainty high); also 1-2" Fri, 1/3 Philly to AC and SW of there

Last NWS map before the event (well, it's started SW of Philly and S of LBI), below, with accumulations cut back a little bit again south of 276/195, although the same warnings/advisories remain in SEPA/SNJ, i.e., warnings for 3-6" for counties SW of Philly in SEPA (Delaware, eastern Chester) and warnings for most of SNJ (SE Burlington, Atlantic, Gloucester and Camden for 3-6" and Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem for 4-8"), while advisories are still up for 2-4" for Ocean, Philly, Montco and Lower Bucks.

The 2" line is along 276/195 and actually the 1" line was moved from 78 to midway between 78 and 80, so most of CNJ should expect 1-2" with the 1" amounts near 78 and the 2" amounts near 276/195; NENJ/NYC/LI are still forecast to get <1". However, getting <1" for most/all of CNJ is still possible and more than 2" is unlikely except near 276/195, so I'm a bit worried about reaching my 1.5" prediction for our house in Metuchen. Note that the snow should be over by 2-3 pm for CNJ, but anywhere that gets 1" or more will still have some slippery roads, as temps will be below 32F and the ground is very cold. Having said that it's doubtful there will be any issues near the RAC for the game.

Note that there are other forecasters like TWC and Dan Zarrow showing the 1" line from about New Hope to Sandy Hook with <1" north of there, while News12NJ and Channel 7, for example have forecasts very similar to the NWS.

Just started snowing in Manasquan/Allenwood part of Wall. I see NWS knocked the total from 1-3" for today to 1-2". Driveway covered.

Looks like light to maybe moderate accumulating snow in green and it just started snowing here, so hopefully we can get a bit of snow this morning.

Man, what could have been with just a 50 mile nudge north...

I'll remember this the next time we miss out on a big time snowfall because the rain/snow line barrels north and gives us 33 degrees and rain.

Totally. I'll take getting fringed over 33/rain eight days a week. After the last few seasons I am absolutely loving this winter. Plenty cold, several minor events, and "wintry feel" for long stretches. This time last year I think there were some daff bulbs pushing already. 🤮

So funny delayed opening for state offices until 11am. Coming down moderate in Green Brook now, roads covered. Gonna be a mess for lotsa peoole going in at 11am in many parts of state from here south

It looks from the 5 a.m. briefing that the storm started here in Cherry Hill later than expected -- about 7 a.m. -- and is supposed to last until 11 p.m. or so. When I just got the newspaper, it was virtually covered with snow. But nothing seems to be falling right now. Maybe -- just maybe --this will be a bust?

When should the snow wrap up down here in Salem Co? Depending on which website or channel you watch some say 1PM while others have snow all the way until 7PM. Seems to me that would make a huge difference in our totals

Been snowing lightly for about an hour and we have a whole 1/4" OTG, lol. NWS discussion said they're sticking with their forecast amounts, but I have my doubts for most of CNJ, especially the northern half towards 78, getting to 1" and for Philly getting to 3", looking at the radar, although it can always fill in more. It is covering all surfaces, which is no surprise at 26F, so paved surfaces are slick already. It is a very pretty snow - light and fluffy consisting of small dendrites.

The can can sale is awesome this year

Picked up..

Prego Sauce 3 for $3
Bumblebee Tuna 12 for $12
Chi Chi Salsa 3 for $6
Bowl & Basket Beans 8 for $6 although i remember cheaper in the past
Chock Full of Nuts Coffee 2 for $5

Absurdity of 30 pack of Eggs now $15.99

Buy Eggland as you can get them for $4.49 a dozen...still expensive but way better than B&B
I usually buy Goya beans are the bowl and basket beans good enough to enjoy the savings?

I have converted to a lot of bowl and basket products but not the beans or ice cream or bread.

For areas from about Philly southward, the main snowfall will likely be over by about 3 pm with the primary low approaching from the west, but this will be followed by some light snow through the evening for your areas from the secondary low well off the coast - that later snow will likely not make it north of 276/195 and might not even make it to Philly-Toms River.

1000%! Nothing worse than 33andrain. Even if we only get 1/2-3/4" here, which seems more likely than 1"+, I love the wintry look and feel and anywhere that gets a few inches is going to have that around for at least the rest of the week as it may not get above 32F for most until at least Friday.

Moderate snow in Flemington. Stuck to roads but once they salted its all clear...just wet. Sidewalks are covered though.

Grass, sidewalks, parking lot, and cars covered with a dusting of snow.
...in Florida? Japan? Bayonne? One nice thing about the weather boards is that almost everyone has their location in their avatar, so people don't have to ask that question - and people who don't get shunned, lol.

Well, all of a sudden, the 12Z NAM/RGEM/ICON came out, all upping totals to 1-1.5" (and 2" in spots) for areas N of 276/195 up to 78, i.e., CNJ, plus the 13Z and 14Z HRRR are showing 1"+ for CNJ from 9 am to 2 pm, so maybe I spoke too soon, especially as the radar in eastern PA from Philly to Allentown has blossomed and is heading our way - depends if it holds together or dries up/falls apart.

back edge showing up...there is more out by state college but dont think that gets here,,,you couuld see the banding here and in between the lighter snows

we are closing in on a half inch imby after about 3 hours of snow and we currently have light snow falling

As someone who has to walk a dog now, I am in complete agreement that 33 and rain totally sucks. Never bothered me much before. 🙂

yes pretty much all treated road should be pretty fine...the snow is falling at such a light rate and with traffic and treatment its a pretty minor impact on the roads north of trenton

south jersey a different story

Anywhere I look it shows maybe another 1/2 inch down that way.

In a bit of a lull now with very light, fine, pixie dust flakes falling, but radar looks nice approaching us from the SW, so should pick up soon. We're up to 0.4" as of 10:50 am (2 hrs) and it's still 26F. And brining works by the way for light snows like this: the street we live on, which was brined, is just wet, but the street that feeds into it is 100% snow covered.

Not hoity toity in any sense of the words but don't like the B&B bread although rolls are ok. Their Donut Shop coffee is pretty good imo.
Bowl and Basket cereals are good as well as their pasta sauces. Reasonably priced and much better than Prego!
Sincerely,
A populist grocery shopper 😄

yeah the bread isnt good...the rye is passable, coffee pretty decent but I bet would spark outrage here over that comment
I found the ice cream to be the worst in comparison to name brands.

I only buy the Pepperidge Farms Sweet Hawaiian in terms of bread if I happen to buy bread. I try not to but sometimes it's on sale and I decide to feed my addiction.
