OT: Snow - a little tonight, maybe more Mon-Tues

Bac, what would you think the Wednesday morning commute will be like in the Rutgers area?

depends on the timing. Some forecasts have the snow lingering a bit longer into Wednesday morning, if its over say shortly after midnight, the road crews should have enough time to clear a 2-4 inch storm. We aren't looking at a monster event here but as we all know snow coming down at rush hour could wreck havoc. Check back tomorrow for a better handle on the timing issue

Looking more and more likely we will see more accumulating snow and we may need shovels. Again it's all about the trough .Where does it set up and how long over a particular area? Could mean a difference between an inch and eight inches. Again during the day could see a few snow showers. The big question is late afternoon into tomorrow night.

Fail storm

??? We were not suppose to get anything overnight..our accumulating snows will not be until later afternoon and night. That being said the Euro was an inch for most but the Gfs and Nam moved that direction cutting back totals. Weenies seem to just throw out the models. Lets see what happens as their is major bust potiential for those higher amounts

Also Mt Holly slashed amounts for south jersey and Philly area overnight..3-4 inches with 4-6 furthest south..even central jersyley cut from trenton northward to Newark to 2-3

You don't really seem to know what you're saying. Mt Holly cut expected snow totals, so you go with this?

12Z NAM continued pretty paltry with qpf especialy for NYC area. Its short term model watching and nowcasting now to see if we get any surprises from the trough but many of us might escape with a rather benign event

Moderate flooding was pretty widespread this morning's tide. In Manasquan, Main Street was impassable from the Shore Club to 2nd Ave. Brielle Rd was it's usual mess. Water came within 75 feet of my house in one direction and a fair bit further in another.

For the global warming folks, it seems to be happening more frequently than in the past.

You guys need to move to higher ground. That place is like the Bangladesh of NJ.

NYC just issued a winter weather advisory...3-5 inches.

Notification issued 2/9/16 at 11:47 AM. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 6PMtonight until noonWednesday. A total of 3 - 5 inches of snow is expected accompanied by below freezing temperatures.

New Yorkers are asked to exercise caution when driving and allow for additional travel time, as roads may be slippery.

Seems bullish..they are running with todays GFS and Ggem but discounting NAM and Euro..bust potential still high

Central jersey still 2-4 per mt holly

Monmouth Country, particularly the beach towns, is still the best place to live in NJ. It's why we get invaded by all those people from up north every summer.

Oh, it has it's major plusses and minuses. Winters are brutal on old bones. Don't mind the Summer crowds at all except when I have to get somewhere. My 10 minute commute to work can take me up to 20 minutes lol. Coming home at 12 or 1am can be an adventure with all the drunks roaming the streets.

The Euro showed about an inch..so the models that normally do better with these type of events are spitting out the least amount of snow while those less reliable in these events give us. I think 1-3 covers it with a possible higher amounts in the sweet spots and coatings in the screw zone

and so it begins....light feathers falling from the sky here in Belle Mead, Radar indicates the snow pushing from the Philly area towards Central Jersey

yeah even the weenies seem to be giving up. The HRRR wasn't too good either. Down in Delaware Mt holly had them in 6-8 and the grass is completely bare. If they get only an inch or so I would say its an utter complete bust by the mets Oh well we can wait and see, cant call this a bust just yet, it still has some time to get its act together and perform for some of us

as much as Numbers say the models are so good and meteorology is so much better the fact remains that a few hours before the event is suppose to start, some models have 4 inches, some zero, some one....that there is no agreement and has been no agreement for days should be concerning. Lot of money put into this field and but the model performance isn't all that hot. Even look back on the blizzard and last years bust of the blizzard..some huge mistakes on the models just days before.

About a month ago I remember seeing talk about a potential stretch of upcoming far out weather that could lead to multiple big storms. Was this it or is that still to come (allegedly)?

Also heard a rumor that temps could drop below 0 this weekend. Can anyone confirm?

Saturday night is forecast to be the real dip - forecasted lows in the single digits to near zero overnight. Coldest north and in the higher elevations, obviously.

Nononono stop lying about Monmouth County. It's a $#!thole & there is nothing to do here. I've actually heard there were wild packs of thugs that go around and specifically rob Staten Islanders. You don't want to visit Monmouth County, they might come after you too. Better to stay on that side of the bridge where you would be more comfortable.

(Stop advertising Monmouth County. We've got more than our fair shares of NYers)

I Freudian slipped and called in Monmouth "Country". But after living in several places--Ohio, North Carolina coast, upstate New York and various parts of NJ, nothing compares to Monmouth County coastal area. Asbury Park is a mecca for music and arts and restaurants, there are quieter upscale towns like Sea Girt and Spring Lake, awesome parks and trails for hiking and biking, farms and horse country within 10-15 minutes, and the cost of housing is not bad. As much as I think I want to leave NJ when I retire, we will more likely settle somewhere in South Monmouth or over the border in North Ocean County.
