OT-Will it Snow on Friday?

thats not happening...they bumped totals a bit for somerset but stop going crazy
Agree, I always thought Somerset should be in the advisory for ~3" of snow, but I don't think they're going to reach the 6" criterion for a warning, so I think they'll leave the advisory up (still not sure Middlesex reaches warning levels either). And as soon as they upgrade everyone the radar fizzles for much of Central/North Jersey, lol. Hopefully just a lull.

if you look at the radar trend it looks like there is a cut off from where the heavier and lighter stuff is, there are a couple of heavier bands back to the west that have to swing through but really starting to see where the jackpot will be

Up to 1" as of 11 am, reflecting the increase in intensity the past half hour (1" per hour rate). If that keeps up, we'll get more than 3". Down to 19F.

About 1.75" as of 12 pm in Metuchen. Snow/radar have lightened up a bit - hopefully a lull. Love that the NWS finally upgraded most of the region to advisories and even warnings, although I'm skeptical of Middlesex reaching the 6" criterion for a warning (maybe SE half will). I'll be ecstatic with 4 or 5".

Heading to the pub for a little fun and food - always like to get out in the snow. See y'all in a couple of hours. Enjoy, but be safe out there - roads are very slippery...

Well we've already exceeded our most likely snowfall here in Wayne - looks to be over an inch already.

1.75 in Belle Mead, snow has picked up a little bit in the past 15 minutes....will this be the last band for those west of 95?

Did the wedding happen?

Was it Friday night or for today?

The wedding indeed happened. We did it on Friday morning at 11. The guests had no trouble traveling from North Jersey.

I really don't understand why we scheduled the wedding for a weekday, but it worked out well!

Just got back from Hailey's Pub where I had a great snowday meal: BBQ wings and then a bacon cheeseburger, fries and a Long Island Iced Tea! It's gorgeous out there, folks.

Anyway, we've definitely been in a bit of a lull since noon, as we only got 3/4" in the last 2 hours - up to 2.5" as of 2 pm. Looks like we're about to get back into the heavier 20+ DBZ echoes, so hopefully we can at least get to 4" - really don't think the warning for 6" is going to verify in northern Middlesex County - in fact when you look at the map it sticks out like a sore thumb as there's no warning to our SW in Mercer or our east in SI (and you would think east will be snowier). But given that it looked like a dusting 2 days ago, I'll take 3-4".

It's 2 pm and we have a good 3.5" to 4" here in Howell. With the storm not expected to finish for a few hours we'll get 6" at least. Coming down pretty steady now. I hate it, the farm animals hate it, except the dogs they love it. I'll have two Great Pyrenees snow balls by tonight. They just refuse to come in, every time I go out they sprint to the other end of the pasture.

The NWS is now saying 4-7 inches for South Jersey east of I-95, with the more snow the farther east. The snow is now falling pretty heavily in Cherry Hill. The NWS warns against any travel, even on interstates.

Holy dendrites Batman - just got into the heaviest snow of the storm here. Visibility not much more than 1/4 mile (1/4 mile or less is criterion for "heavy" snow). I'm sure this is at least 1" per hour snow - if we can hold onto this for 60-90 minutes, we'll at least get to 4". Anything above that is pure gravy. Gotta head outside...

2.25 here..looks like last heavy push per radar

All depends on the snow to our SW. If those bands head NE, as expected, parts of Central/North Jersey will still be snowing decently for several more hours. But if they slide SE, somewhat, while generally moving NE, they will miss western areas and maybe even the I-95 corridor and only hit areas SE of 95. Very hard to know for sure.

My guess is western Mercer, most of Somerset and all of Morris and points west of there will miss these bands, but that they'll be really close to the Turnpike in Middlesex and on up to NYC. Since I live 1/2 mile west of the TPK, I'm guessing it's going to be a very close call for me - could be the difference between 4 and 6" (I think we'll make 4" if it mostly misses us, since we're at 3" now, and 6" if we get lucky and it hits us).

As of 2:30 pm we are up to 3" of new snow, meaning we got about 1/2" in the last 1/2 hour. Radar still looks good for at least the next 30 min, so I'm guessing we're going to at least get to 4". I think we only get beyond that if the bands to the SW down to DE clip us as the rotate NE ward.

Just got in from a nice walk in the fairly heavy snow. Threw a few snowballs. Made a lovely snow angel. Kids are all sleddding across the street - used to love doing that when my son was young (small hill, only really good for pre-teens), but I'm guessing it would be a little creepy if I went sledding there now, lol.

Edit at 2:55 pm - absolutely pouring heavy snow right now - heaviest of the storm. Radar looks like we have at least 30 min of this ahead.

As of 3:00 pm, we're up to 3.5", so we got 1" in the last hour. Still snowing fairly heavily, as we're under 25-30DBZ radar echoes and have slightly more than 1/4 mile visibility. 20F out there.

3 inches of snow here in Belle Mead...the heaviest axis of snow banding appears to have moved away with just lights snows left for me and backedge showing up in Hunterdon County. If you are New Brunswick eastward and like snow congrats you will continued to get socked.

I'm in Belle Mead (Montgomery Township) and we have just shy of 4".

As of 3:30 pm, we're at 4.25" so 3/4" in the last 30 minutes, as it's been snowing quite heavily. Looks like 5" is easily in reach, given the bands to our SW, and maybe 6" - looks like the NWS may end up being right about adding Middlesex to the warning area, after all.

As of 4:00 pm, we're at 4.75", so 1/2" the last 30 minutes. Since about 4 pm, the intensity has come down a fair amount, as we're now snowing between lightly and moderately. Assuming we have a few more hours of this, we'll easily make 5", but 6" might be out of reach, unless there is some backbuilding and we get back into the 20+DBZ bands. Right now those bands have collapsed to just east of the TPK, which is east of me. Not sure they'll come back.

Those totals are all over the place especially for Monmouth. Just measured in Rumson and 4.5 inches of snow. Snowing very heavily. When is it supposed to stop?
