A lot of prognosticators from Flo to the other podcasts thought both Suriano and Ashnault could or would win by Major, and Suriano loses in an unaggressive way , and Ashnault barely wins in SV, is just not a good look.Sorry, but can't sugar coat what I'm seeing here.
Diane normally I would agree with you but our #2 just lost to the #8 and our other #2 needed OT to beat the #16. To this point we've been getting out hustled and out muscled. At least JVB putting up some fight against #5. We have two really good wrestler's and they didn't look very good.
Who freaking knows. Maybe Nick’s not feeling great. Almighty Lee lost. It’s a grind. RU is wrestling ALL ranked teams. It’s all about March. It happens. Ash won. Sky is not falling.

Who said they'd major? I don't buy it and don't recall seeing that anywhere. I expected both matches to be close, maybe not as close as they were, but 3 points.

Lugo tied up Ash and used his strength to dictate pace.
Near the end of the 3rd Ash Picked it up.
Ash will need to win these matches to be a champ.

Let's not start with that line of excuse making. He lost fair and square and has had two lack luster performance in a row.
Nick won't get too far in March wrestling like this.
Exactly rankings are just a number - anything can happen with top guys going down all the time.Diane said it best.

Lugo also took Kolodzik down to the wire... Nothing left to be desired with Ashnault...He be a tough kid who doesn't give up a tone of points.. Lugo also beat Sorenson 2 yrs ago...
I’m not trying to give you all a hard time. I’m pissed, too. We have to work harder. They have to work harder. But, I’m not calling out anyone. I’m putting it in perspective. Iowa and Oklahoma State are ELITE programs. RU is not there YET. It’s a grind. I didn’t say anyone was “sick” or use that as an excuse. I said who knows what’s going on and said that as an example of shit happening. It’s about March. That’s when they have to peak. There will be up and downs until then. That is all.

I get your point and understand the logic behind it. But at what point do you start having competitive matches against the "royalty" of wrestling? 10 years in, 15 years in, 20 years in?
Here we go again ...stop making excuses ...hurt ..not feeling well ..cmon ...he got beat ..end of story ..stalls were a joke for sure ...I’m sure when Marinelli manhandles our guy who ever goes out there ..the injury excuse will be all over ...again ..their guys are ranked for a reason
It would be great for this staff to get an elite recruiter with pa ties. Without Pa kids RU will he stuck.
I hear you....perhaps we're all in over-reaction mode since we're all pissed. Guess I just get tired of hearing we don't have the tradition and history of some of these programs. At a certain point, good programs have statement performances, no matter the history and pedigree.
How about when our recruiting comes close to theirs over a 4-5 year period. We don't recruit anywhere near PSU, Iowa, OKST, tOSU over a 4-5 year period.
I actually think the regression of Suriano and Ashnault might be a worse look for Pritzlaff than Goodale. Pritzallf is the coach that gets down and rolls with those 2 more than Goodale, who is more an Admin.
What I worry about is when the top tier kids from Blair and Bergen C see studs like Suriano and Ashnault getting worse as the season goes on, how can we expect them to sign up for this program?

These are TOP ranked programs, week after week we are wrestling them, wears you down, and RU would have it no other way! Iron sharpens iron. But, it will take a toll. You re-group. Get experience, learn. Get healthy. Prepare for March. Gotta stop acting like we should be killing it every match though. That’s the goal....but have to be realistic.

Good point. That won't happen until we prove we can be a perenial top 5-10 program.
Stop. Way overreaction. Ashnault won. How's he getting worse???? Spencer Lee lost. Top guys lose and look bad every once in a while. I'm sure Suriano will turn it around by March.
Can't without those recruits. We've missed on some but we need more elite recruits. Plain and simple.

Ashnault went from pinning and teching everyone to barely winning by decision in Jan against guys he's much better than. Suriano regression even worse. Now he has zero offense and losing and running out of gas. Something he never did.
How do you expect us to recruit with the likes of PSU, Ohio St., Iowa, Oklahoma St., if we don't display an ability to perform above our potential?

Lugo is ranked 11, Ashnault should have won easy . ,maybe a major. DeSanto was beaten by others this year, and DelVEcchio beat him last year, DeSanto is a head case, he's barely a top 8 guy, A horrible loss by a rapidly fading Suriano.
Something is wrong, our guys appear soft and out of condition. Maybe too many interviewing with Flo, or just not working hard enough
Even Utah Valley whipped us conditioning wise, and I think Princeton will too.

Saying AA got worse is an absurd notion. He's wrestling top guys week in and week out and hasn't lost.
I'll give ya Reese and Ash, but Pritzalff would rip Suriano's arms off and beat him with them if he wanted. That's not a realistic feel.
