Michigan's Team Mom

This "process" has become epidemic. It probably isn't news to anyone here that there are some very specific rumors regarding such activities which are directly related to the two quarterback prospects we recently lost to other teams.

Care to elaborate? I know of the JG rumor of a coaching position for his father but was unaware of allegations regarding the recent situation.

The rumor regarding the recent situation involves a major athletic apparel company and, coincidentally, corporate sponsor at UMD.

So Under Armour. What is it rumored that they did? No reason to protect the potentially guilty.

and the rumor regarding the recent situation where a major southern school is offering a coaching job of some type to the father of a recruit who happens to have played college football in the northeast.

When Rutgers is ready to compete and not just participate, it will begin to do what it takes to land talent. Reputable schools like Michigan and Duke and Texas and Florida do it; it's not limited to pedestrian schools/sports factories like Tennessee and Kentucky and UConn and Louisville.

Unethical? Yes. Illegal? No. Unless there is a video of a brown bag of cash going to the HS kid or his parent ( not uncle , like Cam Newton), then jobs to family, either by school or corporate sponsor, is ok with the NCAA.

This.

JUst pay these kids already and get the shenanigans over with. Enough with these Rube Goldberg pay to play machines.

Remember that time Rutgers got some coach from Mizzou to come here and take his son?

Oh wait, that doesn't happen at this pristine institution.

We may not be perfect, but there isn't a cleaner Division 1 program in the country.

AYRTS?

You mean when Schiano hired Bill Cubit, then Bill's son Ryan Cubit committed to Rutgers? If Bill Cubit didn't have a son, he'd still be hired by Schiano. The guy was OC at two different D1 programs and had ties to the Northeast and Florida for recruiting purposes.

What's next? Are you going to bring up Fred Gruninger hiring Terry Shea as head coach so Rutgers could get Garrett Shea to transfer from Ohio State...?

This is the truth. If you want to win, you have to play the game.

And it has even happened in NJ already to a certain extent. Somebody just down the road (Rte. 27) did something similar awhile back when it was declared "time to win" in another sport.

Reputable? Florida?

Harbaugh didn't need to give Gwen Bush a job to land her son at Stanford. It was a preexisting relationship and as mentioned in the article she already had a nearly 30 year career in academics.

What is not mentioned in the article is that she also is highly involved in the 7on7 cicircuit in Florida as an administrator. It started with when her son was in HS and she continued to coordinate 7on7s after and advise kids on their recruitment. That was why she was hired. Her son was already coming and didn't hire her to get him. Harbaugh hired her because of her connections in FL.
