Started here in Squan a little before 7AM.It’s snowing here in the OC. Just started. Looking at the radar it’s all rain over the ocean
Mt Holly is going to be bent over a barrel after this one. Whole state is shutting down over a 1-3, mostly 1-2 event.
Stop with the moralizing. I like snow, some hate it. What we wish for has no impact on what snow we get. Plenty of people rely on snow for income, so it's not all a negative for society to get snow, plus it's fun for many of us.Why are you "concerned" that people will get less snow? Doesn't less snow mean less work and less accidents?
Yes, they will; their updated discussion, which is good, should have come 24 hours ago at least and I still think their reduced forecast is too high and that having any advisories north of 78 is questionable. I'm guessing the 3" line will be pretty close to where Lee Goldberg had it last night, from about Lambertville to Perth Amboy, which would have meant advisories (which are for 3" or more in 12 hours) only for Mercer/Middlesex (and even there only south of the Raritan) and points south. Oh well.Mt Holly is going to be bent over a barrel after this one. Whole state is shutting down over a 1-3, mostly 1-2 event.
So you don't explain why but just post this nonsense. Stop being a grouchy prick and be happy it's snowing.Stop with the moralizing. I like snow, some hate it. So are you thinking Mercer is going to be 3+?Yes, they will; their updated discussion, which is good, should have come 24 hours ago at least and I still think their reduced forecast is too high and that having any advisories north of 78 is questionable. Your prognostication for the last two days is a bust. You’re as bad as this as you are at picking NCAA seeds. Leave both to people who have actual skill and knowledge.
I'd guess 2" in the northern part and 3" in the southern part, but that's a WAG. Radar looks good for the whole county right now.So are you thinking Mercer is going to be 3+?
As always, thank youI'd guess 2" in the northern part and 3" in the southern part, but that's a WAG. Radar looks good for the whole county right now.
Since late yesterday. Earlier you were taking the unusual position that we should trust the high NWS numbers when I was saying I was very skeptical of the 3-6" amounts being forecast for most of CNJ given the much lower amounts in nearly all of the models. Was a strange switch from the usual case...Actually been pretty spot on kid
Its embarrassing
In the 80s and 90s it would be all systems go with an event like this
Meaning the “concern” could be lessened with less people on the roads ?So is that bad thing?
Because he is a crazy person. Why are you "concerned" that people will get less snow? Doesn't less snow mean less work and less accidents?

Numbers you still calling for 3.3 in metuchen ?Also, the Channel 7 crew dropped their 3" line even further south, from about Titusville in NW Mercer to Long Branch.
Light snow steadily coming down now at 29F with a dusting on the ground. We remain on the northern fringe of the accumulating snow right now.
I can't change my past guess, but now, no. I'm guessing 1-2" now.Numbers you still calling for 3.3 in metuchen ?
You folks in Southern Somerset County getting a very nice band right now. Heading our way shortly, I hope.
+1Lol im looking out my window and its very very light snow so get a new radar
I was expressing significant skepticism in the high amounts given the model outputs all being well less than 3-6" and you were chiding me for "hugging the models" as per what you said yesterday, quoted below, and saying we should respect the mets here. If me saying the NWS was too high and you defending them isn't a reversal of our usual positions, I don't know what is. It's not a big deal and I'm claiming no "victory" as that would've been me absolutely saying the NWS was wrong, which I did not do (not qualified to do that, but am qualified to question them). Also, any "call" for 1-4" is a bit silly - that allows almost anything to verify.Wow..i said they have access to shit we dont...i never said i believed their bullshit
You are ****ing amazing..are you taking a victory lap and saying I was wrong and you got it right. I have receipts of what I actually said
I called 1-4 and its going to be a minor event as its always been modelled. There will be high spots with the possibility of that trough

"so its the modelling vs the mets...and thats why I point out when the models spit out ridiculous amounts and the mets do not bite on them, same situation here. Models have lighter amounts but the mets not biting. Models are not everything. You cannot just hug clown maps. Mets know more than EVERYONE here and they use their professionalism and skill and hone in on how to inform the public. They will usually err on the side of caution here so the higher amounts given the chance for higher ratios which do surprise sometimes and the set up of the norlun trough. "
+1Lol at your hubris
Mt holly will bust as they always do as they did with the high amounts the other day. Its how they roll
Im telling you why they did so not that I agree with it
I really don't know and have been asking that question since Wednesday afternoon, when I said I was "astounded" at how high the forecasts were from NWS-Philly. I even IM-ed the NWS forecaster who wrote the discussion yesterday, just to ask what his rationale was (we've communicated on the weather boards over the years and he's usually very good), but no answer yet.Why would the NWS in Mt. Holly ignore the prior model runs calling for less snow in Central and North Jersey? They appear to have blown this and caused all of these school closings, early dismissals, and sports cancellations for maybe 1" or 2" in the Somerset, Morris, Hunterdon, Middlesex area? Wild... Seems Hillsborough was the only smart district that stayed open and didn't call an early dismissal. What a nightmare for rescheduling and using up snow days.
