Really ripping here in Hillsborough. The Hillsborough Deli will be closed today.

Just went out to shovel.
About 8" on Union/Morris border - just north of 78.

Very light and fairly easy to move.

Yep, this shows Philly area is definitely mix. It's likely the models overestimated Philly and the surrounding area again. I am sure we'll get the conversion to snow later but I doubt you'll see any of the snow totals some of the models showed. They likely will fall in line with what the NWS in Mt Holly was projecting.

It's almost like mathematical models don't actually predict the future.

Just went out with the snow blower to make a first pass on my driveway. About 10-12" here in Basking Ridge and snowing very hard at the moment

hard to measure properly because of some compaction during the lull but I would say between 8 and 9 inches here in Belle Mead
And the wind makes it crazy. There isn't a single car on my block that has snow on it except for the passenger side windows.

you will snow eventually when the dynamics pick up and heavier precip moves in

Flat land and a river?

He was talking about a fall line between the coastal plain areas which you find from 1-95 that runs from Philly to the coast. As you got west and north of I-95, it's piedmont region where the topography gets more rugged - hills to mountains. And sure enough, you'll see most forecasters talk about that I-95 line that runs through SE PA and then into Central Jersey as a dividing line in forecasts.

I bet we picked up over 2 inches in the past 1.5 hr. I think over 10 here in Hillsborough

Easily over 8" here in Bergen and snowing hard. After some meetings I will need to get out there with the blower. Sounds like at least 15" around here.

People are lumping all of SJ together. There's a big difference between the Philadelphia area and areas closer to the shore. The areas closer to the shore were never supposed to get much, because of rain. But every forcast for the Philly area was for 10+. snow last night, couple hours of rain this morning, then back to heavy snow. It's apparent we likely won't get half of that forcaster 10 inches.

The problem is, this is the same story over and over and over again. They blow it every time. Its infuriating

I forecast 8-14 for you. I think you get there on the back end. You'll probably pick up an inch of sleet by 2-3pm, and then snow will mix back in.

I'll take that. I just want to use my Ariens............. it hasn't gotten much use the last few years. LOL.

Philly won't even come close to the predicted low so I have no clue what the hell you are talking about.

"But what about Philly! BUST!"

People on this board generally focus on their relatively small backyards and ignore anything outside their narrow focus. Saying the forecast is a bust because Philly is going to miss the range is like saying we lost the game last night because Caleb McConnell only scored 2 points.

No forecast is going to be be 100% correct in every locality - that doesn't mean the forecast itself is a bust.

Oh man, I just looked up what an Ariens is.... I think I would have driven 50 miles north to some empty lot if I were you, just to guarantee getting to play with it!

What is that white spot right in the middle? Western part of Ocean County.
I think that's the radar itself. It can't capture the areas directly next to. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

I didn't write PHIILY, BUST, Again have no clue who you are talking about but it is certainly not me. The closest word I used to "bust" was whiffed and I didn't capitalize it either. My numbers aren't from my back yard but from NWS observers. Point Breeze section of South Philly posted 1,9in. Less than a mile from me. Again you are clueless. Most of us here are talking about a region not a locality, From Philly to the Jersey shore. BTW Rutgers won last night.

We're getting POUNDED in Sayreville right now. I hope this isn't really an all day event.

I think I’m getting lucky here in Lambertville. Maybe 4 inches on the ground and not getting this 1”+ per hour numbers others are talking about. Was originally thinking this was going to be a storm where I would need to do 2-3 passes with the snowblower....now I’m hoping I can get away with just one when it’s all over.

Just came in from shoveling in North Brunswick it has been sleeting the last hour and a half with some snow mixed in

Just taking a break here in Pway. Arians going through 20” drifts and throwing it 50+ feet (wind-aided, I’ll add).

10.5" in Raritan, 1.7" in the last hour. Lost of sleet mixing in now, about 30-40% sleet
