This now the likely ending.Mets are the favorite for Soto. Money talks. If that happens maybe we see Big Pete in pinstripes.
There are no team changing LH hitters available now.Yanks better not sign Fat Pete.
Bregman and Burnes would be nice. There are no team changing LH hitters available now.
They need a 1B and PA seems like he'd be a good teammate.
It's either Alonzo or Bregman, imo.
Unless they can pull off something big in a trade, options are limited.
Not sure just how fat he is…Yanks better not sign Fat Pete.
That's how I would go at this point.Bregman and Burnes would be nice.
FYI - it seems like the Yanks did a PR offer with Soto (i.e., get close enough to look like you are in the game but not enough to win). Yanks offered $5m less, 16 years instead of 15, and less attractive language around opt outs. Little things like this are silly unless they were hoping to come in a close 2nd.That's how I would go at this point.
Yanks get A for effort whether it was PR or not. Reality is Cohen can outspend just about anyone. This will be a problem for the Yanks going forward. Billionaires will be a problem for every team especially when the price of everything related to sports continues to go up. Last couple of times I went to a Yankees game a family of 4 was easily over $1K for decent seats, parking, food, the bridge, etc.FYI - it seems like the Yanks did a PR offer with Soto (i.e., get close enough to look like you are in the game but not enough to win). Not sure if this is good or bad yet. Let's see what happens with B & B.

My problem is more about time. Getting to Yankee Stadium and back from where I live. No direct route until I hit the NJ Turnpike. Train option is 3 different trains with tons of stops and that only gets to Penn Station so that's really not an option.Yanks get A for effort whether it was PR or not. I hear you - transportation options suck and driving is a nightmare. Yanks need short distance air transportation to bypass all the hassle. Won’t happen in my lifetime but one day.My problem is more about time. Getting to Yankee Stadium and back from where I live. No direct route until I hit the NJ Turnpike. I've been a bleacher creature my whole life so those seats aren't that pricey. I haven't purchased food at the new Yankees Stadium. In the beginning it was because of long lines everywhere. Been bringing food to tailgate before and I have never had a problem going 3 hours without food.
Instead of going to a few games on a tight budget, just buy club tickets and splurge on one game per season. Quality over quantity.I hear you - transportation options suck and driving is a nightmare. I just have a hard time going to the trouble of planning a trip to watch the Yankees and then not eat for 3 hours because a pretzel is $12. IMO, the whole sports fan experience is going downhill fast.
You'd better hope that the Mets don't want them . . .. . . Let's see what happens with B & B.
I was at the game of Wednesday,June 25th.
I went with my dad to at least 25 games in 1969.
This was a field level, family seating ticket directly behind home plate.
I know it’s not the Yankees, just showing how crazy things are today compared to then.
5 bucks got me a hotdog, soda and ice cream
After avoiding a $750+million contract they should buy out all that's left tomorrow and take the hit and move on.Tons of dead money on the Yanks right now:
Aaron Hicks 10 million (last year)
DJ 15 million (2 years left)
Stroman 18.5 (last year)
Stanton 32 million, 29 million, 25 million (3 years left)
Grisham 5 million ( last year)
We should really be able to hit free agency hard next year depending upon what we do this year.
I think that even if you buy it out, it still impacts the year it was supposed to be in effect. I'm not 100 percent sure though. After avoiding a $750+million contract they should buy out all that's left tomorrow and take the hit and move on.
They need to dump more players and get better. Lots of holes to fill.I think that even if you buy it out, it still impacts the year it was supposed to be in effect. I'm not 100 percent sure though.
I don't think so if you actually pay it up front. Normally you pay on the schedule but it's been expedited before. The buyouts upfront would apply to 2025 salary cap.I think that even if you buy it out, it still impacts the year it was supposed to be in effect. I'm not 100 percent sure though.
I'd love to see the Red Sox over pay for Alonso. If the Mets didn't want him for years why would anyone pay him big money?Plan B: Fat Pete and Santander
+1Pete is clearly trending down. Stay away.
Good first step. Sign Burnes and Bregman and this will be a solid offseason.Yankees sign Max Fried.
I've been hearing great things about Durbin since April. I guess he's gonna get a shot...at least in the Spring.Looks like a rookie at 2B next season:
Speaking at the 2024 MLB Winter Meetings, Cashman said prospect Caleb Durbin is the current favorite to play second base for the Yankees next year, according to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic. Cashman also mentioned Jorbit Vivas and Oswald Peraza as candidates who “could surprise” and win the job.
In other words, Torres is finally gone!
