OT: New York Yankees 2024-2025 Off Season Thread

Good first step. Sign Burnes and Bregman and this will be a solid offseason.
Bregman's bat has really slowed down these last couple of years and he's been help tremendously by his home park. Depending on how many years and how much $$ he wants Arenado might be the better way to go.

Yes, that might be the case. I believe Arenado would be a trade, right? Getting one of the two should be a priority for the team. One thing to consider, while Bregman's bat has been slowing down, he is a winner and that could mean a lot for the club. We are missing a Paul O'Neil right now!

Its very unlikely that either Bregman or Burnes will be on the Yankees next season. As you indicate, Bregman's bat will also not serve as well in Yankee stadium. The rotation is already pretty set with the addition of Fried so adding another $30M guy is likely off the table. Arenado also had a significant dip in Power/OPS last season as a potential cause for concern. Rumor I'm hearing/reading is Walker or Bellinger as one of the next targets. I also hope that they bring in a late inning guy to bolster the bullpen.

Not sure if I want Bellinger for the money but Walker could be nice for 2 or 3 years. As for the bullpen, for all of the Yankees issues finding bullpen arms never seems to be a problem.

Only issue with Walker is that we need lefty bats. Walker is a high K righty and the Yanks are full of those.

Actually Boone on MLB Network said they aren't looking for lefty specifically. His ideal starting lineup would be split 5-4 between either way.

Supposedly the Yankees are talking to Houston about trading for Kyle Tucker (as are the Cubs, Giants and Phillies)

Hmm, we lost our best lefty. Who else do we have? Wells and Verdugo. I think Dominguez is switch. Who am I missing?

Tucker would be great, but the price would be some of the Yankees best prospects.

I believe Arenado has something like 3 years 74 mil still on his contract and I am sure the Cards will look for a bluechip in return. And he is not the player he used to be.
Berringer and Walker - decent options but either of them excite you- then it makes no sense if the possibility of Alonso wouldn't even be more exciting.

Tucker- now- that is a guy that would be a star on the Yankees in a lineup with Judge. But, if he is a trade, what would you have to give up for him?

As I mentioned earlier, I think Nestor could be trade bait along with a couple prospects.
Getting Tucker might be like Soto...a one year rental looking for a payday a year from now.
Would certainly be a huge addition.

but the fear would be him becoming another Soto and add the prospects you gave up for Soto to what it would take for another rental. It would literally bring the Yankees from having one of the better farm systems just a couple of years ago to just having nothing left.

And as a Met fan, I can tell you that it sucks.

Agree...but to avoid what happened with Soto, a trade could hinge on Tucker agreeing to a long term contract with a 3-5 year opt out.

I agree on Tucker...one of the best players in the game. If the Yanks could somehow add him to their lineup I'd forget all about Soto.

Cards are looking to move on from Arenado so any trade would have to remember salary dump. No way you trade a blue chip for an older guy on a big salary. Bellinger is a lefty bat and gives you flex in CF. Chicago is also looking to dump him. Walker is a gold glove caliber at 1B.....which is an advantage over Alonso as the team is moving more towards pitching focus.

Bregman, of course, won't come cheap as the Astros reportedly have offered him "six years at about $156 million, which would be the richest contract in club history."

Some baseball guru just suggested Astros want Gil in a Tucker trade.
Sorry...didn't read the story in the previous post.

The only prospect that the Yankees gave up that had a good year last was Michael King. I was nervous about it at first, but unless they develop dramatically in the near future, the trade only hurt from depth purposes.

Yanks sign Loaisiga to a one-year deal.
If healthy he could fill a key bullpen slot.

Large group of potential starters: Cole, Fried, Rodon, Gil, Schmidt, Cortes, Stroman.

With who they gave up, I'd guess a trade for Tucker is dead.

Going forward...I predict they try and get Walker or Bregman as FAs and call it a day.

Cortes and Caleb Durbin.
If Durbin was penciled in as a replacement for Torres, my prediction is they sign Bregman and slide Jazz to 2B.

Or...depending what the Cardinals want, trade for Arenado.
Still need a 1B and I hope that option is not LaMahieu.

But his season, and ultimately his Brewers career, ended on a low note when he surrendered four runs in two-thirds of an inning in Game 3 of the NL Wild Card Series against the New York Mets, including a go-ahead three-run home run to Pete Alonso in the ninth inning.
That's how I remember Williams, although in fairness prior to that he had been a very effective closer.
I'll miss Nestor. And I was hoping to see what Durbin could do playing second for the Yanks.
I guess it's on to Jorbit Vivas...who is the other second base prospect the Yanks are optimistic about.
Now all they need is a left fielder and a first baseman.
I'm hoping for Walker and Bellinger.

Burnes will not be a Yankee. However they are going after Sasaki.
Burnes would be better. Let's make our rotational into a true strength. Sasaki looks good, but you never know about the transition to the MLB. At the end of the day, would be happy with either.

Still need 2 more bats, including a lefty.
