Should Rutgers, New Brunswick be Moved to Western NJ??

We could start from scratch, with a clean sheet of paper,and build a nice, state of the art campus, that will be good for the next 1,000 years. Our campus is currently a negative, when you compare to UNC, UVA, maryland, penn state, michigan, which have much nicer campuses, imo.

There's something charming about being in a bucolic setting, just like Penn State is.

Norcross University- Sweeney Campus This is the perfect solution as State funding will not be a problem except the State has no money even for pension contributions.

Actually I know professionally someone that was part of U. Penn in the 70s when they were seriously considering moving out of West Philly to where their Vet school has farms and clinical areas in Kennett Square PA. Boy are they glad that didn't happen. Imagine if NYU had abandoned downtown. Plenty of other examples.

I always entertained this weird alternate reality where Rutgers stadium is in Edgewater/West New York with the view of the Manhattan skyline in the background. It'd easily be the most scenic stadium backdrop in sports.

I favor a second major state university to be built from scratch in Deep South Jersey, one of the Cumberland County towns. Call it NJ State or UNJ. Or convert Rowan into NJ State. You get a two hour drive from North Jersey with in-state tuition. Sports? Start out as FCS then go FBS and we have an in-state rival.

Yes. It should be built in Hunterdon County. Rebuild all the infrastructure and a new football field and spend about 5 Billion dollars and rename the University, Dream U.

I seem to remember, something on this order being talked about,just not sure if it was going South or West of Rutgers. I could see a second D1 University in New Jersey having a place, with so many students leaving to go elsewhere. There's just no money in this day and age for it to ever happen.

I hadn't heard they were considering moving Rutgers out to West Jersey. I hope the master plan includes a corral for the grease trucks! Hopefully they have a monorail between between New Brunswick and the new campus as they phase in the building of lecture halls there.

Maybe it's not to late to consider Xanadu instead of West Jersey. It would be an easier trip for the students attending home games at Yankee Stadium.
