OT: Big winter storm next weekend (01/22-01/24)?

Hey, I have 3 patents and made 3 whole dollars off of them, lol. Honestly, I didn't think my patents (shared with others) were that big of a deal, but as I'm sure you know, in Corporate America, it's all about IP protection/blockng of others...
I have one and Merrill Lynch owns it not me.

So based on what I'm seeing, we should definitely expect a significant storm? (Minor being 1 to 4 inches, Moderate being 5 to 8 inches and Significant being 9 to 15 inches of snow or so, severe being over 15 inches.) I have a Christening to go to at noon on Saturday in Colonia and I'm coming from Bergen County, so I'm guessing that might be out of the cards as it will probably be worse in Woodbridge than in the Paramus area.
Yeah, it might be better to have alternate plans. Again, keep an eye on this as it can change significantly over the next day or two.
who r u dressing up as? Ron Jeremy? [roll][roll][roll]
I heard he's going as Elsa from Frozen.

Have you ever seen the hot chicks that go to these things?

Of course not. Most of us have never been anywhere near these things. Our only exposure to these things is what we see on TV. So we figure this is pretty much like the comic book store on Big Bang Theory.

Yeah...Not like that at all.
And I fully embrace my nerdiness.

Well there's a cleanup in aisle 3 in the weenie dept. Euro comes north 1.5 qpf 12-18 verbatim

So what time for the next important model run? I have to update the French Toast Warning Level.
I don't know if you still have me on ignore or not, but you'll be happy to know that you're basically torturing me with all these French toast references. I'm supposed to be avoiding carbs. I'm already past the point of no return and have no choice but to make and eat a loaf of French toast. At which point I'll surely stroke out and die.

And here I thought it was me had your number. Well played, oh curmudgeonly one. Well played.

NYC bracing for snowmageddon. I just left Trader Joes UWS and at 1230 on a Wednesday there are so many people in the store they were about to shut the doors for safety reasons. I have never seen grocery stores in my neighborhood shut down during a storm for more then a few hours and that includes Sandy. There is rarely any accumulation on Manhattan streets and when there is it's cleaned up very quickly. I don't know if we should blaming the media or social media.

So we have the Euro, Canadian, and NAM with 10-20" for the I-95 corridor from Philly to NYC and the GFS showing 8-12" for the same area (didn't catch the UK), so definitely game on. However, the models are all showing a fairly sharp gradient from SE to NW, such that one could easily see 18" in Red Bank, 14" in Somerville, 8" in Hackettstown and 3" at the Delaware Water Gap - and if the storm shifted 50 miles SE, that gradient shifts 50 miles SE (like what happened in last year's "blizzard").

You were taken off ignore with all the others.

So basically, around 2ft of snow with high winds/power outages and coastal flooding is a guarantee?
Huh? Have you read any of the posts? Significant to major snowfall is likely, not guaranteed and 2 feet is unlikely north of the Mason Dixon line; the high winds and moderate to maybe major (but not Sandyesque levels) are just about a lock.

From the Jersey Shore, thank you for the info!

This is the only place that I come when I want to know what to expect, and you have once again delivered. Really appreciate your posts.

Fully aware that storm track will tell all, but the bottom line is a storm is coming, and be prepared.

Thanks again!

Both the 12z Canadian and Euro are in and they both continue to show a major snow storm and blizzard conditions for most. The bullseye is just south of the NYC area with up to two feet toward the Maryland region. Long Island and NYC still see major snow with a foot or more possible. Coastal flooding will be a big issue for New Jersey, Delaware and Long Island as a full moon, high tide and hurricane force winds combine.

Well then French Toast Warning Level --> BURNT ORANGE

Everyone prepare to converge on the grocery store.

It sounds like the 12z's are bad news for the Philadelphia area (close to two feet?) , except for whatever possibility there may be for intrusion of ocean air along the South Jersey shoreline. Is that right? Please remember that the board does have people in South Jersey, and so it's great if summaries like yours can include them.

If anyone wondered who the jackasses were you see on TV that ignore weather reports & then demand safety personnel risk their lives to save them from Darwining themselves out of the gene pool, well, here's a little insight into the mindset.

Enjoy feeding the Disney beast. Hopefully the performers have better judgement than you.
[laughing]
Yes, because 8-12 inches of snow is SOOOOOO deadly. Good grief! When did America become so wussy?

Yeah...Not like that at all.
And I fully embrace my nerdiness.
Years ago, there was a comparison someone had written up, between being a jock or a nerd. Compared Michael Jordan's wealth to Bill Gates. Leading to the obvious (and correct) conclusion. Was both funny and eye opening.

Who/what is DT?

He's a meteorologist. Some love him. A certain member, here, who stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night thinks he's awesome. I have no opinion one way or the other, because like all mets he's right sometimes and wrong a little bit more often. The weenies on the AmWX board really hate him, though, because he only shows up so that he can piss on their predictions of 4' of snow.

Ah, I guess that I shouldn't mention that every Sunday I fix French Toast and Bacon for Tyler and Corey. Although occasionally we'll switch over to Pancakes. And sometimes I'll fire up the grill and add in some Johnsonville Brown Sugar and Honey Breakfast Sausage.

Oh good. So you can enjoy my impending demise. I figured you'd recognize that the no carbs thing is blood sugar related and would suggest I not be sparing with the pure maple syrup on my loaf of French toast.

Although, it has occurred to me that you may enjoy it more if my demise came at your own hands. If so, I might put off my suicide by French toast, not wanting to rob you of the pleasure of shooting me, or beating me to death, or something fun and satisfying like that.

I told you I love you, man. :)
